Anyone got any info on their finances after the wheeling and dealing, despite the media slant I have a suspicion they were net sellers and have used that to fund Keane's wages.

Welcome to the forums. :)

Since July 2009:

New signings (with fees):

Tony Mowbray £2million

Marc-Antoine Fortune £ 3.8m

Daniel Fox £ 1.5m

Josh Thompson £ 0.25m

Zheng Zhi Free

Ki Sung Yueng £2million

Jos Hooiveld £ 1.8m

Thomas Rogne £0.25million

Paul Slane nominal fee

Landry N'Guemo (loan)

Diomansy Kamara (loan)

Edson Braafheid (loan)

Robbie Keane (loan)

Around £11.5million in total not including any loan fees and wages which will take it well over £12million undoubtedly.

Sales (with fees)

Paul Hartley Free

Scott Cuthbert Free

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink Free

Massimo Donati Free

Gary Caldwell £1million

Barry Robson £0.5million

Willo Flood Free

Chris Killen Free

Daniel Fox £1.5million

Scott McDonald £3.5million

Stephen McManus (loan)

Around £6.5-7million which means they have spent at least £4million more than they've taken in.

Add in reduced season ticket sales, increased wages and no CL money then Celtic are looking towards a huge loss in the summer. The failure to win the SPL and the likely scenario of no CL football again next season, means they could be in big trouble in 2011.

All ifs and buts at this stage but they have gone with a very risky strategy.

The loan players especially will definitely ensure their wage bill has risen IMO but the Keane payments are allegedly coming from the silk purse of Mr Desmond so that may help them somewhat if true.

I don't think we can hope for any future in a financial meltdown over there. Their house is reasonably in order, financially speaking, and although they seem to hate their owners they gets their hand in their pocket often enough to annoy me.

What is worrying is that WE are heading for the same old scene (ah there, Roxy Music) next year unless there's a new owner. Hard Times, indeed.
