Cops bid to axe Gers game in chants row

Recommended Posts

I was at the game in Stirling and can confirm there was an announcement made around the 25th minute to say that anyone caught singing songs of a sectarian nature would be escorted from the ground.

However, I personally never heard any sectarian songs from the group of kids (barely any over the age of 18) and can only imagine that the sash is the song they believe to be sectarian? According to a friend of mines who was in the section, he told me that the police were actually more concerned over the smoke bombs (not flares which has been the common mistake ) and the firecrackers which made a gun- shot like banging noise. The group were then kept after the game by the police for the safety of families exiting the stadium and followed to the train station until they got on the train.

Before the game had even started a women who worked for Stirling walked past where I was sitting, looked into the crowd and said I need to go over and sit with those hooligans. Funnily enough after all mentioned, there was not one arrest made.
