Spanish Ref For Euro Clash

Recommended Posts

ONE of Spain's up and coming referees has been put in charge of Rangers' crucial Champions League clash with Malmo next Tuesday.

Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz will handle his first game in this arena after making his European debut tonight when he covers Dundee United's Europa League match against Wrocl\aw.

UEFA have decided to use the same set of officials for the United game and then Rangers' meeting with the Swedish champions given that there are only five days between the matches.

Lahoz will be a familiar face for Juanma Ortiz as he has been a referee in La Liga for the past three seasons.

Indeed he booked Ortiz when Almeria drew 2-2 with Getfafe on October 5, 2008.

Lahoz has been a fourth official in the Champions League and has handled one friendly international match.

That must be quite unusual surely?

Wonder if they'll be in Glasgow for the weekend. VIP passes to Karbon?
