Rangers draw East Fife in first round of Scottish Communities League Cup

Rangers will play East Fife in the first round of the Scottish Communties League Cup.

 

The Ibrox clubâ??s participation is dependent on the Scottish Football Association granting Charles Greenâ??s newco the necessary membership to play football.

 

First Minister Alex Salmond conducted the draw, at Stenhousemuir's Ochilview Park for the matches which will be played on Saturday, August 4.

 

Second Division pair Queen of the South and Alloa Athletic were first out the hat with Allan Johnstonâ??s side handed home advantage.

 

Last season's semi-finalists Falkirk and Ayr United have been handed ties against Elgin City and Clyde respectively.

 

The seven Scottish Premier League clubs not participating in European competition this season will enter at the second round stage. Celtic, Dundee United, Hearts, Motherwell and St Johnstone join in the third round.

 

Kilmarnock are the current holders, having won the tournament for the first time in their history when they defeated Celtic 1-0 at Hampden in March this year.
