The Club Must Fight Back - Bill McMurdo

I see my fellow blogger David Leggat has also mentioned the Castlbeck Homes scandal and pointed out that these are part-owned by none other than Dermot Desmond, the Celtic majority shareholder.

Leggo rightly asks if there is a media cover-up on this explosive story up here in the Scottish media, where the three-monkey principle is often applied to negative stories concerning things Celtic.

As Leggo points out, if the owner of Castlebeck Homes had been anyone connected at board level with Rangers, would the same veil of silence be over the story?

Such blatantly obvious cover-ups highlight what Rangers fans know only too well â?? that it is the team that plays in the green and white in Glasgow that can lay claim to the title of Establishment Club in Scotland.

Letâ??s face it â?? if you have the footballing authorities, the politicians and the media in your back pocket, what else could you call it?

This reality does not, of course, suit those of a Celtic persuasion who play the victim card.

Itâ??s hard to claim you are the downtrodden and oppressed when you control everything. And nobody in the Scottish game is under any illusion that the strings controlling Stewart Regan and Neil Doncaster find their origin in the hands of Peter â??Blofeldâ? Lawwell.

That doesnâ??t stop the likes of self-confessed Celtic fan Brian McNally of the Mirror from pulling out the old famine card, as he did yesterday on Twitter, to keep the whole victim myth alive.

McNally claimed Rangers fans were singing The Famine Song at the match against Clyde yesterday.

This was a spectacular smear fail by McNally. The bluenose songsters were, of course, singing that great song on the clubâ??s origins â?? Four Men Had A Dream.

McNallyâ??s pathetic attempt to demonise the Rangers support is another clear example that Rangers Football Club and its fans are under attack in a very bitter propaganda war that incorporates certain sections of the media.

The sad thing is that it is left to bloggers like Leggo, Bill Poole and myself to defend the club, alongside sites such as CRO and Vanguard Bears, as well as Follow Follow and other Rangers forums.

Rangers fans are increasingly asking one vital question in all of this:-

Where is the club in all this media onslaught?

I am aware that Rangers cannot respond to every little thing that pops up on the internet or the deluded tweets of every moronic detractor.

But, quite frankly, there is a real need for the club to get its PR house in order and kick ass whenever it or the fans are defamed or maligned in any meaningful way.

The media need to be informed that any propagandizing against the club will result in complete loss of all privileges and access. Rangers could also inform the fans of any organisation that is seeking to damage the club, in order that fans can organise any boycott, should they wish to do so.

The problem is that response from the club is too sporadic and even, arguably disproportionate. Sometimes, in the case of Charles Greenâ??s bigotry claims, it is actually over the top.

The people who support The Rangers are looking to the club to show strength and leadership at this difficult time. There is still a palpable hatred and hostility out there directed at all things Rangers. The media pour petrol on this all the time and the club must act on that front to address the problem.

Understandably, with the re-emergence of Craig Whyte and rumours flying around about possible links between the Murray, Whye and Green regimes, the club also need to deliver strong statements â?? and evidential proof â?? that all is well at Ibrox.

These are challenging times for all involved with the worldâ??s most successful team.

But, as the song says,
