RANGERS are ready to start moves which will unite the club and Rangers supporters to provide a formidable front against the many and varied attacks made on the club and its fans.

 

It is the only way forward and the one sure method of stopping lies being written and published by journalists such as the Sunday Mirrorâ??s Brian Patrick McNally and the Heraldâ??s Odious Creep.

 

It is the future.

 

In fact, this nettle must be grasped and grasped now, for it is the only chance of Rangers having a future and moving on from the horrors of the last few months.

 

It is also the best chance for the club's value to be increased and that is the essential foundation needed to bild for glory.

 

The trouble in the past is that there has been a mistrust and distrust between those who have ruled the roost inside Ibrox and supporters organisations, plus rank and file fans.

 

This has led to Rangers being sitting ducks for the clubâ??s many enemies.

 

But that is the past. And it is a foreign country where they did things differently.

 

This is the here and now and it is in this here and now that the new owners of Rangers, the new Rangers regime, can draw up a blueprint, in tandem with supporters, to fight the forces which wish ill will on Ibrox.

 

Of course Charles Green and Imran Ahmad have had more than enough on their plate in the last few months as they have tried to rebuild Rangers from the ashes of Craig Whyteâ??s disastrous reign.

 

However they now know just how vicious the attacks on Rangers can be, as two journalists have lied in what many believe may be deliberate attempts to undermine the forthcoming share issue.

 

The past few days has also brought into sharp focus just how vulnerable Rangers are and how easy it can be to knock off course the future the new regime seeks to build for Rangers.

 

The latest attacks have thrown that vulnerability into sharp focus, a vulnerability which will continue if there is no effective and co-ordinated plan, not to merely defend Rangers from their enemies, but to attack and silence those enemies by using the weapons available through the law of the land, both criminal and civil.

 

However, the future must be a co-ordinated one, built on a new relationship, a new trust and a new partnership between Rangers and Rangers supporters.

 

It will need Charles Green and Imran Ahmad to take a new broom and sweep through the offices inside Ibrox. It will need Charles Green and Imran Ahmad to listen to the supporters and it will need some clear blue sky thinking from Charles Green and Imran Ahmad.

 

In fact, just the sort of innovative thinking they have already shown themselves capable of.

 

Indeed, if what I have been hearing on the grapevine is correct, Rangers supporters should not despair at the attacks launched on their club, such as the disgraceful lie by the Sunday Mirrorâ??s Brian Patrick McNally, that they were singing the Famine Song at Broadwood.

 

For my information is that isolating the enemies of Rangers, those who take to the airwaves, rush into print, or infect cyberspace with lies about Rangers and Rangers supporters, is now on Charles Green and Imran Ahmadâ??s agenda.

 

It will be a tough task for the new regime, for the distrust which existed during the David Murray years and onto into Whyteâ??s reign, remains. During that period supporters had no faith in the club defending itself properly. Supporters also felt cut off from the club, believing nobody inside Ibrox was willing to listen to them.

 

Supporters did not believe there was an effective and competent bridge between Murray and then Whyte and the fansâ?? organisations, never mind the rank and file.

 

If the fight is to be successfully carried to the enemies of the club, that must change. I believe it is about to change.

 

My information is that Charles Green and Imran Ahmad have already taken steps to re-assure supporters that culture is about to be swept away and that Rangers will be more proactive in joining with their supporters and attacking the clubâ??s enemies.

 

For they know the benefit of combined operations against Rangers enemies.

 

Of course things wonâ??t change overnight. But a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. Rangers have already taken that first step.

 

The days when those such as the Heraldâ??s Odious Creep and the Sunday Mirrorâ??s Brian Patrick McNally can launch lies to attack the club with impunity, are coming to an end.

 

It will be interesting to watch and wait and finally see just which anti Rangers scalp will be claimed first.

TALK that it will cost Stewart Regan's Scottish Football Association £700,000 to give Craig Levein the sack he so richly deserves is bunkum and balderdash.

 

And those sports writers and broadcasters who continually repeat it in order that Regan is given a reason for not sacking Levein to hide behind, know it is bunkum and balderdash.

 

The way these things work is like this....

 

The manager is sacked and his wages continue to be paid into his bank account every month.

 

Up to the minute he gets a new job. Then they stop. So if Levein is such a good manager, who has merely been unlucky during his time in charge of Scotland and if his stock is so high in the game, then it won't be long before he gets another job.

 

Right?

 

Of course Levein may be playing hardball. He may have the barefaced cheek, coupled with a brass neck, to demand that he gets the rest of his contract, £700,000, paid cash on the nail.

 

Levein is a gambler. At least, he is off the park and that tactic is a gamble.

 

For all Stewart Regan has to do is tell Levein to get lost and see if Levein is brave enough, or daft, enough, or a reckless enough gambler to challenge that in court.

 

The evidence against him is enough to ensure Stewart Regan and Stewart Regan's Scottish Football Association may not have to pay a penny.

 

Based on Craig Levein's rotten record in not one, but two disasterous qualifying campaigns.

 

But I don't expect that to happen. For, after all, Stewart Regan and Craig Levein are best pals, with one appearing to work the other like a puppet.
