Leggat - Celtic SPL Plan Could Spark War With UEFA

Recommended Posts

IT looks as though Celtic want any new top flight Scottish football set up to defy European bosses.

That is the conclusion many may draw from the latest draft proposals of the laws and articles of association of any new set up â?? be it 12-12-18 or 12-12-10-10.

For it is all about the top twelve reams, whether they are under the rule of the now totally discredited Scottish Premier League regime of Neil Doncaster, or not.

And the way things are shaping the Peter Lawwell-Neil Doncaster Axis plans to hang onto power.

But it is a lower play which, it successful, will see open war break out between Scottish football and UEFA.

For I can exclusively reveal that two of the three main planks of the new SPL proposals which have been put before all dozen clubs, will mean Scottish football being set on a collision course with UEFA.

That's because the two things the clubs must sign up to are...

ONE â?? The new Scottish set-up will pay no attention to the new UEFA Fair Play Directive which means clubs will be hit with a playersâ?? wage cap in order that they do not run at a loss.

TWO â?? The new Scottish set up will simply ignore the UEFA Home Grown Directive which insists that every club must have eight home grown players in their first team squad.

It is an astonishingly arrogant bid by at least one club to railroad the others into a situation which could see Scottish football move into direct conflict with UEFA.

And who could that one club be? Which club in the Scottish Premier League would benefit the most from being able to pay its players whatever it wanted?

Which club in the Scottish Premier League would benefit the most from being able to recruit its players from all over the world, at the exclusion of Scots?

Surely the answer to both questions is the same club?

Celtic!

Which is why those who have heard about the conditions firmly believe Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell and his new Parkhead boardroom legal eagle, Celtic company secretary Michael Nicholson, along with Lawwellâ??s £250,000-a-year- yes man of a financial director Eric Riley, are the men behind the blueprint.

As I revealed earlier this week, Michael Nicholson and Eric Riley, along with Peter Lawwellâ??s Hibernian pal, Rod Petrie, have been parachuted in as the SPLâ??s hard line negotiating team for reconstruction talks with the honourable men of the Scottish Football League.

And thereâ??s more!

For any agreement will also include a clause which will ban any club from raising any challenge to any new set up for the first three years of its existence.

So, even if any new set up proves to be a dud right from the off, nobody will be allowed to voice their doubts and concerns for three years as Scottish football hurtles further downhill towards oblivion.

And where exactly does any idea of ignoring UEFAâ??s Home Grown Players Directive leave Peter Lawwellâ??s Hampden boardroom pal, Scottish Football Association chief executive Stewart Regan, the man who is responsible for the nationâ??s team?

And after all Regan has done for Lawwell too!
