54andcounting 0 Posted July 9, 2013 Share Posted July 9, 2013 Nigerian side pipped to play-offs as rivals win 79-0 NIGERIAN football bosses have launched a match-fixing probe after 146 goals were scored — in just TWO games. Police Machine FC hammered Babayaro FC 67-0 — only to see Amateur Division 4 rivals Plateau United Feeders beat Akurba FC 79-0. The high-flying sides went into the final round of matches in Nigeria’s sixth tier level on points. And the fishy final weekend meant Plateau pipped Police Machine to play-off qualification by goal difference. Nigeria Football Federation chief Mohammed Sanusi said: “This is a disgrace. We have confirmed the results from the centre and it is totally unacceptable. “The amateur league board will take a decision on it as soon as possible.” Both teams now face expulsion from Nigerian football after league organisers in the northern state of Bauchi vowed to scrub out the results. And Emmanuel Adesanya, head of amateur football in the country, insists the football frauds will never progress back up the football pyramid. He raged: “The match officials have been suspended. The good news is that none of these teams are part of our league as yet. “At the moment, they are simply representatives of their states, and only the group winners would have qualified to join the Nationwide Amateur League. “We cannot allow such fraudulent teams to be part of our league.
