George McCartney

Recommended Posts

I see on that we are being linked with West Ham left back George McCartney. He's a pretty good defender and likes to get forward down the left hand side. He put an excellent cross in for Kyle Lafferty to score on Wednesday past, but he was also at fault for the Liechtenstein goal.

Only problem I have with George is that he doesn't like to fly, so if we qualify for the UCL he might only play in home games...

Any thoughts?

I watched the NI game last week and thought that, in the first half, he was the worst NI player on the pitch. However, he did improve after the break and given that it was his return to the international set-up after a fall out with LS, maybe that was the reason for the 'slow start'.

Have to say that I was once again impressed with David Healy - can't help but think we lost out there - a proven goal scorer for just over a million.

McCartney got down the flanks very well on Wednesday night, in the first half his distribution was terrible. In the second half he improved, and apart from the blip that gifted Liechtenstein their goal I thought he did quite well. Having said that, this was only one game. If he can be a bit more consistent then I'd be happy if he signed for us.
