UEFA chief William Galliard last night praised Rangers' fight against sectarianism but warned their supporters not to ruin the good work in Lyon.

Around 4,000 Ibrox fans are expected to make the trip to the South of France for the Champions League crunch tomorrow night.

The situation at Rangers has been monitored in the past year and Galliard has been delighted with the club's efforts to silence the unwelcome minority who had attracted UEFA's attention.

But Galliard warned there was no room for smugness ahead of the game in the Stade Gerland.

He said: "We know the efforts being made by Rangers in fighting sectarianism.

"I am confident the Rangers fans can keep the spirit in Lyon in the right way and the way they have been doing recently.
