STEVEN Lennon has made a move away from Ibrox on loan as he seeks further first team experience.

Steven LennonThe striker will join up with Partick Thistle for a loan spell agreed until January 26 of next year.

It represents a chance for the 20 year old to pick up some valuable top team action as he looks to increase his experience of competitive matches.

Thistle finished 6th in Division One last season but struggled in front of goal with just 40 league goals in their 36 matches.

They have enjoyed a successful start to the season in the same division this term and now boss, former Ger Ian McCall, will hope Lennon can add to their threat in front of goal.

Lennon faced competition for a spot in Walter Smith's line up from an array of forwards including new signings Kyle Lafferty, Kenny Miller and Andrius Velicka.

He should be part of Thistle's squad for Sunday's meeting with Queen of the South.

Meanwhile, Gers' under-19 goalkeeper Mark Weir has also agreed a loan deal. He will join up with SPL side Kilmarnock until January 1 next year.

Best move for him i think. at least he will get some senior experience.
