    Well that’s Celtic fucked

UEFA are making an absolute mess of European competition.  Even though Celtic should be "fucked" they still make group stages of the Conference no matter their result - same with us I guess.  But if you lose in your first game you should be papped out.

UEFA has basically taken European football from being highly competitive when it was the European Cup to being little more than participation awards.

    2021_22 odds are

    Man city 4/6

    Chelsea 5/1

    Liverpool 5/1

    Leicester 33/1

    Spurs 40/1

    Arsenal 66/1

    Everton 100/1

Liverpool are a great value bet at 5's - especially with their whole back line back fit and available.  Don't underestimate just how important VVD is to them.

I would be laying the shit out of Arsenal at those odds !

He claims that he has to charge it due to SA authorities. That may or may not be true but certainly there was no interest charged on his other loans and 8% is a great return for him.

I don't know the SA regulations but that doesn't hold for me (without, as I say, knowing the regulations).  Other jurisdictions wont care if you charge interest or not - what they WILL care about, is receiving income based on a perceived arms-length transaction.

8% may be a great return for him but it also would satisfy, I imagine, the SA authorities in terms of the interest rate charged being arms-length.

Where my issue would be is that I don't believe that DK would have had to have actually received that 8%.  I do US tax returns for our company and we have an inter-company loan, repayable on demand, with no interest applied.  Clearly not arms length.  However, all that we do to satisfy the US authorities is calculate an "implied interest". In DK's instance this would have meant that his SA tax return would show a commercial interest rate (arms length) which would allow SARS to collect income tax on the interest "charged".  But DK didn't need to collect the interest itself.

At least that is how it works elsewhere.  As I said, I don't now the inner workings of SARS so could be wrong.

That is a very concerning read.  Rev MacQuarrie's credentials have been beyond reproach for a very long time.  The way that these 3 appear to have bullied him, and also Christine it would seem, to get their own way is absolutely disgusting.

I would personally actually consider running for election at the next elections to throw a spanner in their works and attempt, no matter how futile it was, to steer the C1872 ship back on course.  Even if it would be like steering the Titanic....

It won’t be long before someone comes calling for Gerrard but I just don’t see him as one of the itinerant managerial circus where the same  faces flit from club to club. He might well leave but I think it will only be for a specific challenge, not the money or the status. I think he’s a certain England manager one day.

Aside from Rangers there are two other places he will manage.  England and Liverpool.  He stays on the same trajectory, does well in Europe and he will be a shoe-in to replace Klopp.

Thereafter once successful at Pool, and a little bit older, the England job should be his too

Nuno may actually have less money than he did at Wolves and without HK or the money generated by his sale i think he will find it hard to get Spurs into any European places - maybe 7th or 8th. Lower hopefuly :)

Emperors new clothes for Everton - vying with Spurs for 7th or 8th.

Can't see either finishing above City, Chelsea, Utd, Pool, Leicester or Arse (that's the top 6 methinks in one order or another)

Arsenal are shite mate - and I say that as an Arsenal fan.  So poorly ran that I actually don't see them bettering last season.

Exactly. There are winners and losers every time any share price rises or falls. Unless all prices are going to remain the same forever, the only way to guarantee avoiding disappointment is to keep your money in your pocket.

Until you get higher inflation and the inflation rate eats away at your disposable income :ninja:

Yeah, while it’s in their prerogative, I do see why people are annoyed. I have taken a step back from this one, because I’m not sufficiently knowledgable about the background goings on, just director duties.

Genuine joy to see you too, Craig. Too long. Where does time go?

Amazing how quickly the time flies my friend.  What you up to these days ?

Morally, maybe. To make the club more money, no. Their legal duty is to do the latter where they can.

In which case they should have charged C1872 25p per share too - because there is little, if any, doubt that C1872 would still have paid 25p per share for those shares.  That is the crux of the issue here it seems.

BTW, good to see you back Barry - hope all is well my friend.

I see Gilmour as an ideal Davis replacement, but I'm not in favour of a loan player taking that place, unless we can get him for something like a 2-year loan.

Our team is quite reliant on a metronomic, deep-lying playmaker.

I'd prefer to see Kelly get a shot at it. Or bring in a proper, long-term replacement.

Kelly plays far higher up the pitch than a metronome

Yeah KT is through at Bo'ness a lot, hope he keeps his academy going as the kids enjoy it when he is through.

My twins play for BUCFC 2011s who have a fantastic set up, and have training sessions for all age groups with KT, Hearts and Rangers. Also have Rangers training camps twice a year.

Linlithgow also have a decent set up to be fair.

his Academy will keep going - KT doesn't do too much of the training anyway, Geordie his sidekick does most of it.  That said, KT took Geordie with him to Kelty - Geordie was Musselburgh manager.

My kid's team when he was at Linlithgow was littered with ex pro youth kids, mostly Hearts.  He is at Gala Fairydean now, he is 16 but playing U20's - just waiting to hear on trials for Solihull Moors in the Conference - all he cares about is football - I am just hoping his academics can catch up...

Yeah, as is the ICI Club across the road from the groumd but Newtown Bar which was next to bookies has gone.

Used to enjoy watching the juniors, Bo'ness v Linlithgow could be a bit tasty ?

Kevin Thomson still does some coaching for Bo'ness - and my kid played with Linlithgow for a year

Well I played there many times mate so every chance, in my time Boness were one of the top teams and a very difficult place to play, I don't think I(we) ever won there. Is the wee bookies still next to the ground?.

The only Juniors worth talking about is the famous Auchinleck Talbot :ninja:

I was scouted by a Scottish top tier team when I was at Killie Boys Club, but in their infinite wisdom none of my coaches informed me about it until 6 months after I had quit Killie, and football and even then it was only because they bumped into my parents in the town.  Thanks coaches.  I actually started in goals and played for the County team down in England (Hampshire) but our school team was so good I got bored, so then moved to left midfield, and played for the County team again, even though I was right footed.  When we moved to Scotland and I joined Killie I just wanted to play so I ended up playing left back, which was the position I was scouted for.  Played alongside Gary Holt who ended up at Celtic and was capped 10 times for Scotland, and no word of a lie, Gary was maybe 5th best player in our team behind me, a CB, the GK and a central midfielder.  Gary always had a great engine, and also had the determination to make it.

When I quit football I took up lawn bowling - won the Scottish Youth Pairs when I was 13 and then became the first person to appear in two finals when I was 15 - would have won it again but my partner played shite in the final.

Looks like goalie Brian Kinnear has joined Birmingham City, probably a good decision, as his chances will be rather limited with us and at 20 years of age, he needs to look for competitive footie.

Rangers Academy goalkeeper Brian Kinnear has secured a move to English Championship Birmingham City

Yeah, he is behind Mcgregor, McLaughlin, McCrorie, Firth, Wright - best for his career if he leaves

People say the numbers never lie but let's face it we haven't had any decent opposition in the league in the two domestic cups two sides raised their game and beat us

Those same two sides are also in the same league..... so not sure even what you are suggesting here.  They beat us but it wasnt as if in either instance they were better than us.

the shops are back open take them all to the sports shop for some pairs of shooting boots and try another formation his 433 has been rumbled

LOL.  Unbeaten in the league domestically, took penalties to beat us in the SC, last minute goal in our only defeat domestically..... and his "433 has been rumbled" - away compo, lol

    Largely meaningless game.

    Played the second string.

    Lost a last minute equaliser.

    Still undefeated.

    I can't lie: I'm a little gutted.

LOL.  Barisic, Goldson, Tavernier, Davis, Kamara - 2nd string

    Hagi, Roofe - 2nd string ?

The only true second string players we used from the start were McLaughlin, Simpson, Itten and maybe, Wright.

All 6 EPL teams have now withdrawn from the Super League - lasted a while.

On the plus side.... apparently there are clauses that anyone withdrawing needs to pay £100 million to extract themselves from said Super League

Perez clearly has the right idea..... invite a dozen clubs into a super league, have the other 11 pull out because of thebacklash.... take the £1.1 billion and pay off the debts of Madrid - lol

That's nice but mutiny should still be punished. I think a 20 point deduction at the start of next season and banned from UEFA competition for a year should send the right message.

Absolutely.  Aston Villa released a statement saying that they are considering punishment for the 6, and rightly so.  I would ban them for a year too - I would give them such a draconian punishment that it hurts the owners significantly to the extent they would have second thoughts next time, and there WILL be a next time, they consider something like this.
