  1. While mostly irrelevant, my MyGers points got me a ticket for a European away semi final and the final, several domestic cup semis and 2 domestic cup finals. Value for money guaranteed. I will of course renew. Still got both membership packs intact as they are completely worthless and wish the club wouldn’t bother going to the not insignificant expense of making the packs, just admit it’s a charge for access to tickets and be done with it. I’m buying it anyway!

I would hope that the RSA are not only trying to get RSC more tickets, I'd like to think they are attempting to engage with the board on the many issues Rangers fans encounter on out travels.

Like the horrendous issues safely accessing grounds like Easter Road, Livingston and Killie (to name 3) where the lack of operational turnstiles, policing or stewarding means crushes and fans missing some of the game.

I hope they are also highlighting how we are policed differently and use Parkhead as an example. We're rounded up, stuck in early, get bottles thrown at us, then run a gauntlet when leaving. When they come to Ibrox, they are given safe access and exit.

Maybe they are also engaging the club on how the Police and Stewards (at all grounds) are more concerned about stopping fans entering with water and cans of juice than fans with alcohol and banners that say Kill All H#ns.

May be I'm being a bit optimistic and you are right, maybe they only want more tickets for RSC.

Well as you’re a member of a RSC you can ask them, or ask your club secretary to ask them, about these issues, but having been a RSC secretary for over 25 years and had many engagements with the RSA I’m pretty sure that getting increased ticket allocations are number 1 priority and always have been.

  3. What a strange coming together. Club 1872, a vehicle to own shares in the club, the RSA who try to get RSC's more tickets, and the UB who sing songs and do displays at games. Each of the three at pretty much going in different directions to each other. I know the RSA didnt consult its membership before either speaking to the others, or issuing this statement, so they will have to answer internally for that.

In the real world, this is another look at me statement which most Rangers fans will read and go meh.

  4. Disappointing capitulation but absolutely not a surprise. Must take those chances in first half hour which I thought we were playing quite well up till then. When Sakala goes through one on one I didn’t even get up or get excited, he is so poor in those situations it was inevitable he would hit the keeper.

What was sadly more interesting was the utter lack of fight in the last half hour, from the manager right  throughout the side. I know the league has been done for weeks but that’s defeats now at the piggery, Hampden and pittodrie where it’s a big mental battle on top of the physical one.

Im not a fan of Mr talkalotbutdeliverlittle aka Mick Beale and I’ve said from day 1 of his reign I expect it to be shorter than Gio’s but I’m clutching onto 2 good additions he made in January (he stated he expected 4 but only got 2) and hoping this summer window is productive. I’m more interested in leavers than incoming as we can’t move forward until we get rid of a large number of players and get their wages off our payroll.

One meaningful game left this season, one last chance for most.

  5. It's a no from me. They have not come anywhere near close to impartiality in recent times, just read 26th's regular updates for what goes on with that broadcaster. They dont get to slaughter us at every point, then reach out the odd time so they can claim to tick the "balanced" box.

I would be informing them that up until now there has been no degree of impartiality, but if they showed over coming weeks and months a bit of balance then perhaps a future appearance would be considered.

You don't see what a player's age has to do with how they are used? Have you ever watched football? :D

I'd use them both every week.

I wouldn't be starting them every week, though. (Messi is carried by the team now - not successfully by PSG, IMO - no matter how good he is.)

To be honest, I would give Arfield another year. I think he's good off the bench. I wouldn't start him at all, though.

I only want players who are fit and available to play on demand, not having to be managed due to age. If you need to pay an experienced internationalist like Arfield a full time wage, then you should be expecting him able to cope with playing as often as we play. If he cant, then replace with someone who can who may not have the experience, but is available and of similar qualities on the park. I really like Arfield as a player, but these type of players have not worked out well for us in recent years, and I do not believe we have got value for them, and as a result have also stifled youth development into the first team.

    Because he's 34-years-old.

We really shouldn't be using him much at all.

Dont see what being 34 has to do with it. Messi is 35, would you not use him every week?

  8. How feckin dare they. If a bear wants to buy a ST , giving a huge amount of cash to Rangers and then doesn’t go to any games, surely that is their right to do so. What if I buy a ST, don’t like what I see and refuse to go back until XYZ happens, how do I effect my protest if the club then take my ticket off me and sell it for the second time to someone else?

At least as important as anything Celtic do is whether or not our manager has learned anything since the LC final. If he employs the same tactics then we're sunk before we start. It's a huge test for Michael Beale.

I see this as the major influence on the outcome tomorrow. He has twice messed up against the bheasts in his 2 matches against them this season. Poor game management and substitutions in the new year game, and a dreadful selection in the final. Has he learned from this or will we see another overly respectful pine-up which is selected to try to cope with our opponent while ignoring our own strengths and letting them worry about us. I think we will have a fair idea how this game is going to go about an hour before kick off tomorrow. I'll either be just as deflated and anxious as I was on the walk over from Shawlands to Hampden, or right up for it and looking forward to it.

If we select the correct line-up and formation, and do not make early mistakes which gift them a goal, then we will be in the hunt for victory, and it may come down to the use of the bench.

I really hope Beale has learned the painful lessons and even I will be right behind him if this happens.

The other guy is former Herald Literary Editor, Hugh MacDonald.

Hugh is a big, BIG Sellik man(hence why he has appeared on Peter Martin's PLZ Soccer show for these last ten years). A regular on Cosgrove and Cowan too, he seethes quietly in his hatred of all things Rangers.

One of the last pieces he did for the Herald was to eulogise the Brazilian footballer, Kaka for his commitment to the poor of the country. Voluntarily, he gave back a substantial percentage of his salary to his church for poverty relief. Of course, Hugh did not realise Kaka like all his extended family, was an evangelical protestant. Shug is also a big supporter of Scottish independence. These days, he lives on the Isle of Arran and we know the days the CalMac ferries are running when he hail hails on Peter Martin's PLZ Soccer.

I thought I could sense timmery in all its ahem, glory, seeping through from the photo, thanks for the explanation 26th. Obviously with Peter Martin being involved I have never bothered to take any interest in such a program.

  11. 3.2 shots per game and 34 games means over 100 shots and 13 goals doesn’t seem a very good return. Perhaps the stattos amongst us can compare this against other strikers?

£6M for a 13 goal striker in a poor league seems excessive but that’s what happens when we only seem to look in the most overpriced market in world football.

  12. Jack for me, a quite sublime performance.  And Beale went for Kamara and Lundstrum ahead of him for the final, insanity.

Sakala was very good but makes bad choices far too often, same for Kent. Raskin & Cantwell continue to impress.

  13. Still no word from the club about an agreement with Hibs to show at EH?

I seem to recall for the Hearts game it was fairly short notice to show it at Bar72 (before EH opened of course) so I am still hopeful of some late news. If anyone hears anything, can they post here please?

  14. I've gone for the blond Lowry like most others. He had a smashing game, and hope this is the lower end of the standard we can expect for our outlay. Raskin next in line but he looked jaded in the second half when Killie changed to a pressing game and he didnt have the freedom of the pitch to operate in. Raskin does look like a proper midfield player though and it makes it a sackable offence for Beale to select Lundstrum over him last week. I'm not getting over that any time soon.

The worrying aspect was that while we put in only our third decent first half performance in 16 games under Sir Talkalot, in two of those 3 games we have not turned up for the second half. In the other 13 games we havent turned up for the first half and played better in the second half. Only Tynecastle did we put in a complete performance. One good game in 16. Somehow 14 wins have been miraculously achieved in that run, which is certainly papering over the cracks which are pretty wide if you peek under the paper. Onto Easter Road and another tough fixture at a difficult venue. Hopefully our last visit to Edinburgh inspires us.
