  1. Yup, that's the Neil Murray I remember. However, he at least has the advantage of not having made an arse of himself yet (to the best of my knowledge anyway). Bomber on the other hand has hardly covered himself in glory during his post-playing career. Croneyism seems alive and well at Ibrox. Watch Durrant being appointed assistant manager.

not being funny, but what has Durrant been paid to do for the past few years ?? other than just sit there with Smith in the stand during games, for me he contributes nothing of any real worth.

    Please Ally - don't be a Walter clone !!

  2. totally underwhelmed by this news.

the threat he offers is absolutely minimal. he was an absolutley atroscious signing by Smith.

i'd rather we sent him on loan to Blackpool instead of Beattie !!

  3. This stinks of Willie McKay coming to the aid of his heroes, not his client, and not for the first time either.

"An insider said" Who the hell can be this mysterious insider if it is not McKay himself, or the journo just making it up to suit his pro-scumbag defence.

I said that at the beginning mate. Maybe McKay's plan all along was to unsettle Rangers and aid the taigs with this move. I'd love to listen into the conversations between McKay and Diouf to be honest. As a taig, McKay will have absolutely NO interest in helping Rangers.

The whole Diouf deal is a strange one to me - and one that could provide pivotal in the destination of the league title. Has Walter been duped and bitten off more than he can chew ?? I hope not - for all our sakes.

  4. Murray is an intelligent lad. Did and Accountancy degree years back I remember.

I bumped into him in The Garage in Glasgow about 15 years ago and had a good chat with him. Comes across well and is quite methodical analytical in his football discussions.

Ally must see something in him. We certainly need to freshen things up and have a new mentality of looking for players.

Bomber Brown spotted Cuellar, but to be honest, if I was given money to fly around Europe attending games, with the brief of getting in a player who will shine in the SPHell, I'd spot a decent player now and again !!

Time will tell on these two appointments.

  5. our perfomance will have to be upped massively if we are to take anything from this game.

I'm quite pessimistic - as it'll be a usual Walter defensive anti-fotball display with one lone striker completely isolated about 50 yards from the rest of his team mates.

We got away with it in Lisbon against a very poor Sporting side. PSV will be slicker, quicker and more clinical IMO. They will also have the backing of a packed stadium and boisterous home support. I've been over there before and they make a hell of a racket to drive their team on.

    Head is saying 2-0 PSV

  6. Fleck cleared the ball off the line for us otherwise we might have been dropping points yesterday.

He looked really good when he came on for the last 30 mins in the 2-1 CIS cup game against Motherwell at Ibrox. He was playing quite central in a forward role supporting Jelavic and he picked out a few beautiful passes to set Jelavic up with shooting chances. We should really have won that game more comfortably, but Jelavic wasn't back to his best or even close to it at that point.

I've seen some other good things coming from Fleck as well and tend to think that the good things he does get glossed over or forgotten about because he gets played out of position so often and really does look out of position too. The lad should play through the middle supporting the striker, not on the wing.

agreed - he is a typicl number 10 and needs to be played there regularly to get the best out of him. I'm just concened about his basics at the moment - touch, control, passing, composure, awreness nowhere near as good as it can be/should be. when he cam on the scene the thing that struck me about him was his gtreat awareness touch, composure and the ability to make great linking passes. Ok, yesterday everyone was awful, but he had a real nightmare. Fitness up to scratch ? I'm not sure, but he has to start getting back his technique - it's what his game is all about and what made him stand out above the rest at an early age.

  7. MB:

I don't think Fleck helps himself to be honest. His fitness looks poor, he looks overweight, his set-pieces are poor and his attitude less than first-rate.

Sure, I doubt our coaching is first class but the virtues above are the responsibility of the player more than anything else.

Generally with some more games, hopefully he'll be a bit sharper and gain some much needed confidence.

agreed mate - it is a two way thing. player has responsibility as well. just feel he's never been played in the correct position. i just hope that this is not another young player who looked to have good technique early on but loses it and just becomes another run of tyhe mill SPL player.

  8. This needs more sung

can't view youtube at work mate - what is it ?? TBB ?

to be honest - ANYTHING would have done yesterday - the Rangers support that I knew has definitely changed. No way would we have been as quiet as that 15-20 years ago, or more. We're challenging for the title with everything to play for yet yesterday we could hardly muster a single song. Dreadful.

  9. were we on some self imposed singing ban yesterday bears ??

atmos was absolutely dire and everybody sat on there erse doing nothing.

I know it was another dreadful performance but to virtually sing no songs was terrible. We were behind the goal and at the beginning we assumed we'd be standing - but as usual we got tyhe "sit down, we can't see" brigade moaning on. Cue 90 minutes of utter silence from the bears.

That was dreadful bears - and does absolutely NOTHING to help the players.

As for the Super Ally chants that I wanted, I tried to start one ealry doors but hardley anyone joined in. After all that went on in the week, the least we could have done is shown our support for McCoist.

Oh, and we play like that on Thursday we're looking at certain defeat. Will be so predictable, with Diouf or Healy up on their own, 50 yards away from any Rangers player !!

Come on Rangers - let's get our act together on the picth and in the stands !!!

  10. Is that in the same way as he did when he got us Boumsong for nothing?

That's what I don't get mate. I'd love to know what McKay says to Diouf about all that's going/gone on. As a lover of the taigs he must be enjoying this surely ? His client getting loads ot coverage and his team are using the Diouf signing as a motivation..

  11. have we heard anything from Diouf's agent/representative - the infamous Willie McKay ??

I'll back Diouf while he's here - but let's not forget he won't be here after May.

Was it his taig loving agents plan all along to bring Diouf to SPL to unsettle Rangers and aid the tims ?? I'd wouldn't put anything past that wee khunt !!!!!

  12. so is the Birmingham v Villa clash going to come under similar scrutiny ??

Last time they player there was a huge picth invasion, fans throwing missiles and flares being thrown at each other. not to mention running battle outside the ground and in city centre.

OTT response to this OF fxture, which is just adding to the tension. Next two games against them will be bedlam - but I genuinely believe the 'authorities' will want this, 'to prove a point'.

  13. they didn't even need a keeper last night - and their defence were on the cigars all match. That is totally unacceptable. We approached the game like we did with Manure and Barcelona FFS !!!

shocking dispaly - AGAIN. Smith is accountable for this mess !!!!

Step aside Walter - your time is more than up !

  14. I wouldn't have too much of a problem with Edu playing if he was fully match fit and playing at his best, but he's definitely NOT and this is no game for him to get a start IMO. Hearts will have their midfield packed as they will probably play 5 in midfield including 2 defensive central midfielders plus Black fighting for almost every ball. Going by what I've seen from Edu in his couple of appearances since returning from injury, I've got very serious doubts about him being the correct choice to go to battle with a 3-man Hearts central midfield.

IMO a half fit Edu is more useful than McCulloch. The lad Hutton would also be fine. This is Hearts - not Barca mate. I'd have every confidence in Hutton if selected - he could more than handle himself and he has the talent and intelligence to deal with it. But we all know Walter will stick with McCulloch - and that is my big concern.

  15. My fear for MoodyBlue's team is having both Hutton and Ness side by side in CM. They could get over-run, unless we also have Davis tucking in beside them. I dont doubt that both Hutton and Ness will do a job for us over the course of this season - but it could be expecting a bit too much of them playing together in one of our toughest games.

Edu, for me, doesnt impose himself enough and he is still quite young too - if we were going to play Ness or Hutton then I would still have McCulloch in beside them.

Edu would be fine. We've got to get out of this mindset that we will get run over if we don't have McCulloch in the side. More often than not it's McCulloch who is being by-passed during games. He rarely, if ever, stamps his authority on a game. Any combination of Ness, Hutton, Edu would be absolutely fiine IMO.

  16. Can't disagree with much of that, I like that side, a much more solid midfield

more solid midfield and a defence that won't sit as deep without Weir. Up front we'd have some panache and guile that would outfox any defence in the SPL.

For me it's time to take McCulloch and Weir out the side.
