  1. I still don't get the Naismith thing. Thought he was poor again with the ball at his feet. rarely looks up to see what's happening around him. Poor touch, composure and distribution IMO.

Gets the ball and seems to panic most of the time, or gets his head down and runs into trouble.

never been a big fan of him and his overall contribution in all honesty.

  2. NPOR was superb as was TBB.

TBB near the end of the game at Hamilton made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Great to hear it back. Hope it gets massive airing at the Buraspor game. Nothing quite like Ibrox with TBB in full flow.

  3. Keevins [i know] said on RC this morning 'it was an unrecognisable Man Utd team'.

i certainly recognised their players and the £80m or so that their team cost to put together !

    Phuck you Kheevins !!! :giruy:

  4. Radio Scotland we ok from what I heard.

They can't afford to slag us off in this instance because when Scotland go to Spain for example, they weill be doing the exact same thing.

    Talksport were seething !!! :giruy:

  5. they are absolutely rattled. They did not expect their biggest club to drop points against us - they felt that it would be a formality and they can't accept the fact that we took a point at OT.

Collymore, Houghton - ****** bastard - and Saggers were laying into us big time.

    GIRFUY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :robbo::spl:

  6. to even get away with just a 1-0 or 2-0 defeat, EVERY player will have to be on top of their game.

My big fear - as usual - is that we lack composure, our movement off the ball is terrible, we have very little pace, our passing is 'erratic' and our cohesion as a unit is suspect to say the least. This will al be brutally exposed tomorrow night IMO.

  7. too quiet and goes into hiding far too easily IMO.

needs to stand up and be counted on the big occassion - he's not a 'young lad' any more and should be shouldering far more responsibility.

Come on Stevie - get it together son.

  8. Kids dont physically mature until their late teens and early 20's anyway so getting them to simply become "strong" players is wasted effort. That side will come.

Not only ball control and body swerves Pete but there are a plethora of other things that should be taught well ahead of the physical aspects.

Body positioning (how to legally shield the ball - we see it on the continent all the time that the recipient of the ball gets his body between ball and opponent even before the ball arrives - so that if the opponent makes an attempt at the ball it will ikely result in a foul).

Awareness of space - just look at Rangers. How often in the last 5-10 years have we complained that our players pass the ball and then remain stagnant rather than looking for space to move into in order to get the return pass ?

Vision - even before the ball arrives you should have taken a look to see where your team-mates are

Movement - similar to space awareness - but your movement can result in a pass from a team-mate or, just as effectively, it pulls an opponent away such that a team-mate can break into that area.

Touch/Control - for obvious reasons. As wabash says, far too many Scots have a 1st touch that goes out for a throw. The standard of basic techniques in Scotland is generally appalling. Watching some of the Europeans the ball is like glue as soon as it touches their boot.

Passing - youths should be working on all sorts of range of passing - short passes, long passes, drilled passes, floated passes etc etc

All of the above are far more important than being strong in the tackle at a reasonably young age in my opinion !

totally agree with this mate. we've got our priorities all wrong in this country - and have had for decades.

even back at school 20 odd years ago , I played left or right wing normally. Not wanting to boast, but i was pretty decent with my feet and was a bit more 'cultured' than many of the school team sqaud. However sometimes the teacher would opt top play a bigger, stronger, more physical lad instead of me. So even back then it was obvious that in Scotland, if you have good touch, control and composure on the ball, it was often overlooked if favour of someone who could give a bit of 'dig'. It's why our standard is so low and is a laughing stock in Europe and at international level.

  9. I have NEVER rated Levein. Combined with the poor players at his disposal, it's an accident waiting to happen.

Until people in ths country can get away from the 'physical' aspect of the game being so important even from a young age, then we will never progress.

The lack of composure on the ball at all levels in Scotland is absolutely terrible. a massive requirement to be a decent plauyer is to have good control and composure while the ball is at your feet. such a basic requirement, yet one which alludes us at every level.

  10. There is a massive difference between improving your standard of living and just chasing the cash like a mercenary

, we aint talking about guys on average wages here , and remember they also get a PFA pension that they dont need to contribute to .

At the end of their careers they can still be rich but show their medals, but each to their own

you've hit the nail on the head mate

  11. Could never understand why when we had Prso that we didn't get a few Croats across on the back of his spell at the club...

exactly mate. his PR of the club was fantastic both here and in Croatia. This should have been used to our advantage.

I'm sure there are plenty of Croatian, Serbian, Slovakian players etc. for example who would be great additions to our team - and at not huge expense. They would also settle better and be more used to the football and the lifestyle in Scotland than players from some other parts of the world. Same applies to Scandinavia.

You cannot tell me there are no players out there who could have done a better job than say Lafferty and Naismith - and they would have cost half what we paid for them !! :(

  12. Not for me. McGregors form pre UEFA cup final was outstanding and he got back to near his best last season, that save in the OF game at parkhead was incredible.

Id rather off load Alexander for maybe 1.5 million and get another back up keeper than sell mcgregor.

don't get me wrong, he is a very good keeper and in an ideal world, we'd keep him. But we have other positions in the team that are far more crucial that we get right.

  13. Stepping stone? I've seen absolutely nothing in 2 seasons to tell me that Edu can play in a higher standard of league than the SPL. If he goes, it'll be back to USA/Canada.

i feel the lad has genuine talent. He has been the best midfielder in two OF games on the past 2 seasons.

Hi has composure on the ball, good passing and seems to have a knack of being in the right posoition to receive a pass and deal with it immediately.

I honestly think he will move on in the not too distant future. He'll fancy a crack at EPL and would get into a team like Fulham.
