I didn't mean it as in you NEED to put a lot on to win, but with odds of 4/6.. if you put a fiver on that you get �£8.33 back, which is a profit, obviously, of �£3.33.. which is hardly worth it, really. So aye, with odds of like 4/6 you're more inclined to put a bit more cash on it to make it worthwhile.

In written form it is 10/3, but when speaking it's known as 'one hundred to thirty'.. it's odd, I know, but as far as I know it's just one of these things that there's no particular reason for.
