  1. I would have to add we need a stronger board!, a couple of big hitters is required!.

Do you mean politically or financially? If the latter, I think you would be hard pressed to find millionaires willing to throw serious money at a club in Scotland, with no guarantee of a return in investment. We already have Rangers supporters on the board, who by our standards are pretty wealthy and are front loading income iro transfer fees for Pedro. How would we go about getting Chinese/Russian/Arab money when being a club owner in Scotland carries no prestige and very little opportunity for international exposure?

We are in a hole, no question and I am just not sure how we can narrow the gap in the immediate short term. However as per RBR's comments above, I think it is unlikely that Celtic will progress to the group stages after this year, so we may find ourselves on a similar footing to them in obtaining of finance from the Scottish game thereafter. At that time, scouting and the academy will be paramount. Playing the Rangers Lotto and supporting the next share offering will support both initiatives.

  3. It was regarded as a major coup when we got him, with essentially all the above being said as well. Watched him in a u20s EC/WC or the like that same summer and he was a stand-out in that team. Too bad that he carried that injury and I have no doubts that he would have helped us last season, despite his age. Here's hoping that he can forge a good partnership in midfield alongside the likes of Dorrans and/or Jack.

I like Rossiter and think he is a very decent player when fit. At this point in time though, I would start Jack before him. Jack has been quietly efficient since joining us and I think that we are a better team with him as the holding midfielder. If the red card is not rescinded, then it is up to Rossiter to seize the opportunity and attempt to retain his place in the team when Jack's suspension is over.

Imo, the only way that he could play with Jack would be in a 4-2-3-1. I also think that the 4-4-2 does not allow any room for Pena, hence the continued absence. In that formation, he can only realy play the Miller #10 role, which could also be filled by Niko.

  4. Small point of note: Halliday DIDN'T receive a red card for his gesture @ Morton. He in fact received a YELLOW, but since he had already been booked, it resulted in his sending off. A small, but important point!!!

Another point. From memory, Halliday gestured towards the Rangers fans, and not towards the Morton support. Big difference.

Personally I feel that the C1872 statement has taken away the focus on the refereeing and placed it on Lennon. I couldn't give a flying f**k about Popcorn teeth but I am concerned that if Beaton's 'performance' is not addressed, then it is open season on the team. We definitely need 'clarification' on his decisions.

  5. First 25 minutes we were superb. That was as good a start as I have seen. Unfortunately, when we had the chances during this time, they were not taken and I felt that the heads dropped (understandably) when Jack was inexplicably sent off. As a team, I genuinely feel that Pedro will need to work on the shape when we are reduced to 10 men. Based upon the refereeing on Saturday, this is going to be a common occurrence this season and we do need to be better prepared for this probability.

  6. I am not a fan of Miller, and was unhappy that the club re-signed him first time around after his stint with them, but in the interests of fairness, I felt that he was one of our better players last season and does appear to be viewed as part of the leadership structure within the team. You can never fault the effort that he brings to the game, irrespective of your views on his skill levels. However, he cannot and should not have been dropped back into midfield. We have better midfielders sitting on the bench. That is not his fault and I blame Pedro for not bringing on Rossiter for Miller, when Jack was sent off.

  7. The spine of the team has been strengthened enormously by the new signings. Alves/Cardoso - Jack/Dorrans are light years better than Kiernan/Wilson and Holt/Halliday. As someone mentioned earlier in the thread it is no longer boys against men. We are competing all over the pitch now.

I thought that it was Windass' best game for us, and he combined well with Wallace. I think that consistency is going to be the real challenge for him, he has shown rare glimpses of being talented but these were few and far between. Candeias had a good first half, but was much quieter in the second half. Hodson was really sound at RB and Herrera lead the line well without really getting sight of the goal. Can't remember a chance created for him? Miller does cover an enormous amount of ground and took his goal well.

I think we are lacking a genuine left wing (think Willie Johnson) and a back up CB. Alves just spreads so much confidence throughout the team and if he was to go missing due to injury, I would have the fear of Danny Wilson coming in to replace him.

  8. No problem, we'll just turn to crowd funding! If Phantom can get those gullible 'strip the titles' fanatics to 'donate' 2k in 24 hours, I'm sure we'll raise the funds to defend the club!

In all seriousness, the board of Rangers would defend this to their dying breath. Genuinely not worried in the least - sticks and stones and all that.

  9. Rossiter seems to be the one being talked about most.

Agreed, Rossiter would probably be the logical exit. Jack has been excellent since joining and I can't see how Pedro can fit Rossiter into that midfield. Pena is the record signing (under the new regime) so would be fairly certain that he will be a regular. A midfield 4 of Candeias, Jack, Dorrans and Pena, doesn't even leave space for Kranjcar! 6 into 4 doesn't go and that's before we even get a left sided midfielder (Walker/McLean).

  10. Worth joining Twitter, even if you hate it, for @kerryfail today

    EDIT:

Someone on FF typed them out:

    From @Kerryfail.......

Not surprised in the slightest, 7 or 8 people just walked out of my work at the news. We will not lie down. Time to assemble Bhoys.

am goin ti the police , not standing for it any longer

    This decision stinks of racism.

Yeah so the timing of the statement before our game vs Rosenberg, coincidence? I think not. My tickets in the bin regardless.

I believe that the Masons have integrated in to every single decision making authority in Scotland. Even our own boardroom. Sickening.

That's it, I'm done with Scotland, done with football, done with Celtic and more importantly done with all you clowns. Just **** off, bye.

I feel so let down by everyone. Can't even look at my wife the same after today.

a actually cant take this anymor, its making me ill I honestly feel like sooing regan and doncastser for ernings loss

Is English even their first language? Just what do they get taught at those schools? Sooing and Ernings?

It's absolutely f*****g hilarious, had tears of laughter reading some of those comments.

  11. Perhaps change the title to 'plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose'! Under Warburton we played possession football with no end result, under Pedro, we appear to be exactly the same. (Based upon the pre season matches anyway). Like you, I am surprised that we continue to buy (and be linked with) central midfielders. If Jack and Rossiter are our DM's, then if forces Pena and Dorrans wide, as Kranjcar is always going to be the attacking point of the arrow head.

I did enjoy your thoughts iro Jack and the need for a defensive midfielder when our SPFL opponents are likely to have 10 players behind the ball. However, I would argue that last season, as we became more desperate to score, Wallace and Tav would always remain in our opponents half and Andy Halliday would be drawn forward as well. Our opponents would then switch the play into the vacuum left by the full backs, which then drew one of the centre backs across the field and out of position with no cover. Jack appears to be a very disciplined player and seems to have great awareness of danger. When the fullbacks are forward this season (as they will be) and the space behind them is exploited, you would anticipate Jack dropping back into the CD position, covering Alves or Cardoso. I am hopeful that we will be much more solid this time around. Now if we can only create and take our chances, we will be far more competitive this season!

  12. Wouldn't be unhappy to sell Wes for a decent transfer fee, and use the funds generated to get Walker, McLean and perhaps McGregor? Although time is the great healer, I just cannot find a way to forgive Naismith for 'those' comments and would be unhappy if he was to return. However McGregor shut his mouth, and was apparently gutted at leaving. Perhaps bring him back to replace Wes in the short term and to mentor Jak, Kelly and McCrorie. Perhaps a bit hypocritical on my part, but I don't view McGregor or Davis in the same light as Naismith and Whittaker.

  13. Yip, this is a disgraceful story. So a newspaper which prints made up articles then goes after a complainer personally when they pull them up for highlighting said fake news. It is actually very sinister. And I expect more of this to come. It is strangely in line with the recent activity of other Fake News sites as CQN and the rest in which they are posting the email address of regular posters who flag their false information.

Highlights the importance of using your personal email address rather than making use of your company email address. Companies are 'responsible' for the material transmitted via their server, hence this reprehensible response from the Rhag.

  14. Rangers eye Willock Rangers are looking to sign Manchester United youngster Matty Willock. A loan deal looks more likely for the 20-year-old who was named among the substitutes for United’s final match of the season against Crystal Palace. Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the attacking midfielder but with the club spending heavily in the transfer market it seems a loan move would be best for his development. (ESPN)

Cant see how we would fit in another midfielder?

  15. Robbie Keane - Paid for by DD personally as ra Sellik could not afford him. Cheating or not?

Juninho EBT - No investigation or punishment?

Investing in Film Companies - Tax evasion, no investigation or punishment?

Child abuse cover up - No investigation or punishment?

I have absolutely no problem with our being punished, IF WE HAVE DONE ANYTHING WRONG, but I expect fairness in that the same even handed approach and punishment is applied for the same offence. If we sing banned songs, take the penalties that are mandated. However same must be applied to the IRA fest across Glasgow and indeed to Kilmarnock/Dundee/Hearts who are up to their knees in Ayr/Arab/Hibs blood. Silence from the media other than when highlighting our 'self inflicted' own goals. We should be smarter than that (Brahim made the point about seats being ripped up in Luxembourg) and ensure that we do not give them that excuse to beat us with.

The sheer hypocrisy of the SFA/SPFL approach makes it impossible to believe that there is not an anti Rangers agenda.
