the thing is, with a 40 million turnover, we have 25 grand a week for our best players. if our business is run properly we can have 3 or 4 right good players on scottish terms top dollar.
-
another tim lawyer, are catholic supporting celtic fans the only people allowed to be lawyers in scotland?
-
there is no appetite for change at rangers.
-
no, who said that? lol my suggestion is we must do better than we have in the last decade off the park. we must be more clever. we must work harder and we must find better value for money. that doesnt mean we need a cap or that we should go daft. that is just silly. maybe you dont mind playing second fiddle in this backwater country, i do and many more do too i am sure.
-
not with our management team. caps will never become the norm in football, never. i think this just rubbish about guarantees we wont be challenging for the title when we get back. attendances will fall, then the ball is back in greens court.
-
our best recorded turnover i am sure was about 64m, the year we went to the uefa final, in a year with no european football, in the spl, it was just shy of 40 million. we just about competed with celtic with our wage bill of almost 30 million, there is no way we could do it with less than half of that. bayerns turnover will likely be well over 100 million, der berliner will be able to tell us why tickets are so cheap, it may have something to do with tv money, sponsorships and everything else the clubs can rake in. imagine how more powerful german clubs would be if they charged british prices for tickets?
-
if this nonsense from stv is true, it will only be a matter of time. 3 trophies a year, it wont take them long.
-
it will be more like a pound for every ten they spend. winning trophies will be a thing of the past and celtic will replace us as the worlds most successful club in record time. a wage cap will finish our club in a way not even craig whyte could have dreamt of.
-
the point is, they can handle it so why do we need to cap at a fraction of that which it may well be? we will not be able to compete and fans will only put up with that for so long. in fact most with any brains or personal ambition might just give it a miss and rightly so imo. we have been saying buy low, sell high for over a decade, we have never been able to do it, why would we start now? we dont have the staff to do it. whilst celtics scouts were out finding the wanyamas, kayals and matthews, what were ours doing? watching spl games? a wage cap will only increase the already big gap between us and them.
-
its not about just over spending though is it rab? its was more about being completely mismanaged. our turnover was anything between 40 and 60 million then, paying our few top players around 20 to 25 grand a week was very possible if the business is run properly, we were not.
-
fans better get ready for relegation battles in the future. this is ridiculous to say the least. all geared towards making profit and playing on fans blind loyalties. count me out.
-
how do celtic manage it then? they have more than one on at least 25 grand and can handle it no problem.
-
no way can we match or beat celtic with a wage cap, while they are paying their players 20 to 25 grand a week and we are limited to something less. wage caps are for small clubs with no ambition. this is something i wont be believing in or buying into and feel very strongly about. shocking if true.

and still some will drag up the same excuses to pardon his ineptness. -
CELTIC got rid of Stuart Slater and "Tiger" TimStevens this week. Slater's departure does not appear to have caused much distress toCelticfans, but Stevens, whose touch is a little less subtle, has split the faithful. The 38-year-old Radio Clyde disc jockey, who works theCelticPark PA on match days, was sacked in mid-shift during Wednesday night's game against Young Boys Berne for what one director called a "tasteless and inappropriate" remark. Jings, no, what did he say? He announced the result of Rangers' game in Sofia (cheers). And then asked for a minute's silence (laughter). RADIO presenterTiger TimStevens was sent home with his tail between his legs from Parkhead last night. The Radio Clyde disc jockey, who also makes the public address system announcements at CelticPark, was perhaps a little less than sincere when he made a half-time request during Celtic'sEuropean tie for "a minute's silence for Rangers". The other half of Glasgow's Old Firm had, of course, by that time lost their European Cup tie. Celticdirector Tom Grant, rather than thinking the Tiger's skills were burning bright, took a dim view of the announcement -- and promptly dismissed Mr Stevens from the Parkhead microphone. "It was quite a civilised discussion," said one observer. "It would be wrong to say the fur was flying." A crestfallen Mr Stevens was heard to remark: "I just did it on the spur of the moment." he was also known for calling us "huns" within the corridors celtic park.

why? could any of them take 20000 fans to an away match in a different country or a quarter of a million fans to a european final?
-
where was our helping hand and empathetic understanding from hmrc? bigots.
-
is that not just the youth sides strip? no tennents because they are under 18?
-
kick back has been infiltrated by timmy it seems.

barcelona football is boring. refusing to shoot from distance, making 1000 passes and going nowhere. they would be nothing without the individual brilliance of messi.

proof is in the pudding. we are all watching the same dross. -
where the results from celtic blogs and forums? what have you found on him?

that is obvious. money. for every 1 hundred thousand the average spl manager got to spend, walter got 2 million. for every 500 pound per week player the average manager got in the spl, walter got a 15-20 thousand pound per week player. walters second stint at rangers saw him spend almost £40m, incredibly all the while our debt was becoming critical and still he felt he needed more and regularly spoke of needing to spend money. good manager? not in my book.
