So - wrong in all aspects, Stan.  Every claim = wrong.

I’ve waited a long time to see this but I expect Celtic to complain to the SPFL and the police. Let’s get the tickets sold before they do.

They've just issued a petted lip statement:

“We are happy to reciprocate in terms of ticket allocation, something which will give us the opportunity to meet this huge demand to visit Celtic Park.”

  3. This is all fantastic. news.  I don't even mind that I'll probably not get in next season, myself!  I'm not up often enough to get a season ticket - though if I were rich enough I'd do so and lend it out the other times - so on the few occasions I make it, I'll just take my chances.

Ii used to love away games but haven't been to one in Scotland since 2012.  Still, there's pre-season friendlies and maybe, just maybe one or two in Europe to look forward to.

However it works out, Gerrard has certainly caused a stir. One could almost say "there's a buz......."  No, I'll not say it.

  4. "just" a fan, Gonzo,  but one who came to Scotland as a refugee specifically to be near The Rangers.  Apparently he applied for 955 jobs, got one and .........well here is the story from the official site:

AHMED Ismail saw his dreams come true when the club invited the lifelong fan from Sudan to Ibrox.

He came to Glasgow in 2015 as a refugee and chose the city to settle because of his love of Rangers.

Ahmed is a Glasgow Housing Association tenant from Lambhill and applied for 955 jobs after being granted leave to remain in the UK.

It was only in July of 2017, through Wheatley Group’s Changing Lives programme, that he landed a full-time job with a GHA environmental team.

It is through that job that Ahmed got his first chance to watch Rangers, and visit Ibrox in person, when his manager lent him his season ticket.

To celebrate his story the club invited the 29-year-old to watch the home against Dundee last month.

     Here is Ahmed’s story:

“I arrived in Glasgow in 2015 as a refugee from Sudan. I was in danger there. I was hurt and my family was hurt, so I had to leave.

“I came to Glasgow because I support Rangers – my whole family does. So when I was asked at Heathrow where I was going, straightaway I said Glasgow.

“At first it was difficult to understand people. There are a lot of slang words, and people speak very quickly, but I kept practicing. But Glasgow people are lovely – they helped me a lot.

“When I was given leave to remain, I wanted to start working straightaway. I have always been a hard worker. I find it very hard to just sit around.

“But I struggled to get a chance. Even though I have a lot of experience and qualifications, and work really hard, I couldn’t get an interview.

“My housing officer told me about the Changing Lives programme. I just felt eager every day, and determined to make the most of the chance I was given.

“After a few months, I was given a full-time job in the environmental team in Milton. I am outdoors a lot – and part of a great team

“GHA hasn’t just changed my life, they’ve saved it.  GHA has opened so many doors for me and shown me that a way out is possible. They have really helped me a lot.

“I like working with my colleagues and I love the job. I am still so new here, and I don’t know what the future holds for me or what my ambitions are yet but GHA is a great organisation, and is very supportive of employees like me.

“I speak to my family every day. My mother is a teacher and my father is a dentist – and a Rangers fan. They are so proud of me.

“I miss my home, and I miss my people, obviously – but there are good people around me here too. They are so nice.”

We’ll be honest, when Martin Skrtel to Rangers claims really got going in Turkey, we assumed it was just assumption built on top of assumption.

With Steven Gerrard at the Scottish Premiership club and the pair playing together at Liverpool, the pieces seemed to fit. Then there’s David Bates joining Hamburg, and Bruno Alves almost joining the retirement brigade, and it was all there.

Not to mention Fenerbahce realising they’re probably paying him too much, as they often do, so an exit wouldn’t be the end of the world. Skrtel to Rangers started to pick up steam and has now been covered in the Scottish press too.

We thought it’d be worthwhile having a look over in Slovakia… and it certainly was.

Pravda, who are a big deal in Slovakia (they’ve been speaking to Marek Hamsik today) have a headline saying Skrtel is missing from an upcoming international, and then it’s stated ‘He goes to Glasgow’.

The country’s national manager Jan Kozak is quoted explaining the defender needed a break: “I’d like to see him in the team, I was interested in getting him here. He’s captain, it would be good to be with the team now. But his condition is not good. He first had muscle problems, then he hit his head, played with injections… Finally, we have agreed that as an older player he needs more rest, so he can get things right.”

Pravda then state: ‘The defender also solves his future. Glasgow Rangers’ long-standing interest in his services has become more specific. He was picked by his former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard, who became the Rangers coach. After two years, the Slovak hunter should leave the Turkish gran club Fenerbahce and return to the islands for £2.7m, which is slightly more than €3m.’

This is presented as their own information. They’ve covered other parts of the story, but given credit previously to Turkish or Scottish sources. This feels different, like there could actually be some truth in it.

Maybe Steven Gerrard has tempted Skrtel with the prospect of some kind of coaching role.

the only thing I've got against O'Halleron is he hasn't played well for us.

On the other issue.....I swear I remember a time when the tims were playing a European game and our players went along to watch them. I've looked for it but I can't find it

On another occasion  we played them at Parkhead after they had a good win in Europe on the Wednesday before. Our team came out onto the pitch and formed a guard of honour to applaud them on to the field....I was there and saw that happening

so the vilification of O'Halleron is, in my view, over the top

Even if you do find it, I don't think it is comparable to a domestic final even more so for one in which we were gubbed by them in the semis

Liverpool are facing something of a battle to keep hold of their star young striker Rhian Brewster. The young England talent, who was sensational for England’s under-17s in their World Cup triumph last summer, has been heavily linked with a move to German side Borussia Monchengladbach. In fact, the approach from the Bundesliga outfit has been anything but amicable.

Liverpool know they have a top talent in their hands in the form of Brewster, but he obviously fears for his first-team opportunities at Anfield.

What Liverpool need to do is present the young striker with a clear vision for his future and it should involve club legend, Steven Gerrard.

The former Liverpool captain has recently taken his first steps into management with Scottish giants Rangers. Now he will be looking to improve his options at Ibrox, as they look to catch Old Firm rivals Celtic.

Brewster has in fact been linked with a move to Gerrard’s Glasgow rivals, but it would be a better move for the teenager to head to Ibrox.

Under the guidance of former Liverpool under-18 boss Gerrard the striker would be more likely to play first-team football.

The deal would offer the talented striker what he wants, regular first-team football. Rangers would be happy with any deal. His arrival would be welcomed and would add some fresh firepower to the attacking ranks at Rangers.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will know he is in the trusted hands of a club legend who will do all he can to ensure Brewster continues to mature, all whilst hopefully improving Rangers’ frontline.

Presenting a full plan for his development would give Brewster the desire he needs to remain at Liverpool. Heading to Ibrox would then be a perfect opportunity for him to start finding the net and adapting to the men’s game.

A Rangers loan switch makes perfect sense for all parties.

  8. Moving on to today = I read that they are having an open top bus parade.  Thought that was not considered advisable in Glasgow, I hope any bear pubs on their route are well protected.   Can you imagine the response if we ever applied for one of these from the GCC?

  9. Good attitude from Wes, but I don't see him being with us in 2019.

Then again predicting the future is fraught with danger, and predicting or future is totally impossible.

  10. The end of the season seens to have brought an outbreak of hostility and internal verbal sparring to the fore in Gersnet, going by the threads I have looked at over breakfast.

Perhaps the effort of holding it together during the dire season was just too much to sustain. One would have expected it to be the opposite though - that is, in the season not out of it. I just make this as an observation, I'm not looking gor a flame war over it.... ;)

I used to always feel like that. Now I wish the close season lasted for years. Scottish football makes me ill, as it is seriously bad for your mental health and sense of anything decent.

    As today has proven!

Rangers fans have a lot of power in their own hands, boycotting matches! but that will never happen as has been proved previously! it really is a pity they want to keep feeding the same clubs who tried to kill our club, and continue to try and harm our club, by continuing to donate their cash to the cause!.

it's a great pity we can't just up sticks and leave them all behind, as with Stevie G in charge the TV companies down South would love to cover us........but that whole idea is over fraught with difficulties, alas
