This has been my concern for some time. Effectively there are only two teams in Scotland. So the choices are limited for any decent player to want to come and play here. Anyone who wants money in their short football career will go south. The difference can be 10k per week to 75k + per week. This for me does not compute what is required is for someone with real money to buy the club. And put it on the map players will come for money that is a given, 12 out of the last 13 to Celtic is abysmal if we do not find cash it will be the same next year and ongoing. Tell me I am wrong and provide me with solid reasons why cheers WATP.

First post the day after an old firm loss in a cup final...🤔. Call me paranoid but I smell something rat like...

Outwith Dessers, who's last forward to score over 20 goals in a season for us?

Worth noting he has only taken 1 penalty for us this season.

Get better players in and around him and I'm sure he'll continue to score goals

He should have scored 40 plus this season.

Well he is contracted to us so no fee and maybe Clemente will get a tune out of him

I think it would negligent for Clement to not consider him and analyse why its working for him in Uttecht.

Cifuentes is on-loan until January so we are not selling him.

Butland, Hagi and Ridvan are the only 3 players we are likely to receive offers for so they should be sold. Unless Goldson and Tav can be tempted to Saudi (Tav very unlikely to move there).

We should be looking at getting Sima and Cortes back on-loan but unlikely to get Sima given his contract situation.

I think we can get money for Lammars, Cantwell, Lawrence and Matondo. Not huge offers but if we can get most of our money back or just under that could bring money in. And free up wages.

I think the positive to take from yesterday was that the manager changed things up and got the team to go toe to toe with Celtic.

He couldn't do much about the fact several players were obviously less than 100%, many others injured and the lack of quality in the final third.

That was my takeaway. They were basically at full strength and many of their players were anonymous IMO. Their Japanese trinity had zero impact and even their best player (O'Reilly) was quiet. I reckon if Sima was fit and Cortes was available, things would be different.  My big issue is the striking options. Danilo is not the answer.

So the season is finally over. Very disappointing again, to say the least.

36 players turned out for us this season. The list below also includes the third and fourth choice keepers and Alex Lowry, who never played any minutes.

    Some rebuild coming....

Butland - Sell if good fee or keep (starter)

    McCrorie - Sell

McLaughlin - contract ended - let go

K Wright - keep (squad player)

    Tavernier - Must Sell

    Goldson - Must Sell

    Souttar - keep (squad player)

Barisic - contract ended - let go

Balogun - renew contract (squad player)

    Sterling - keep (starter)

Devine - Sell or loan out

    Davies - keep (squad player)

King - Sell or loan out

    Yfeko - loan out

Yilmaz - Sell if good fee or keep (squad player)

    Fraser - loan out

    MacKinnon - keep (squad player)

Jack - contract ended - let go

    Raskin - keep (starter)

    Cifuentes - Must Sell

Lundstram - contract ended - let go

Cantwell - Sell if good fee to fund rebuild

    Dowell - Must Sell

Diomande - obligated to buy, (starter)

    Hagi - Must Sell

    Lowry - keep (squad player)

    Rice - loan out

    Lammers - Must Sell

    Dessers - Must Sell

    Danilo - keep (squad player)

Sima - loan over - buy if price is right

    Matondo - keep (squad player)

    Lawrence - keep (squad player)

    Wright - Sell

Roofe - contract ended - let go

Silva - loan over, don't buy

    Cortes - keep (starter)

    McCausland - keep (squad player)

    Lovelace - let go

We are left with 15 players (if Butland stays) that maybe are good enough to keep and only 5 of them are 'starter' quality (IMO): Butland, Sterling, Raskin, Diomande, Cortes. We have just signed Jefte so we need at least another 13 or 14 players this summer without relying on the youngsters.

It'll be interesting this summer. Or at least it better be.

Agree with most apart from Lawrence (too slow) and Matondo (never going to make it). Sell both for any fee and use wages elsewhere.

Anyone else notice the assistant referee run onto the pitch and show Diomande a red card? Same clown who flagged Sima offside when he ran on to a goal-kick!!!

I noticed that. I actually didn't know that linesman had cards.

  8. Matondo is very frustrating. Pace to burn but chooses not to use it. He could have knocked the ball past Johnston and hit the touch line on several occasions but chooses to keep the ball close to his feet.

I agree, but he hasn't played that well when he has been given a chance.

He was decent. I thought we gave as good as we got in the middle. Dio was my MOTM. I like the fact that he was getting "involved" with much of the agro today.

  10. Aways gutted to lose to them and always gutted to lose a cup final but this time I left the game with a tinge of hope. If we can get actual wingers or fit players (Sima, Cortes) and a striker with a killer instinct (not Danilo), I can see some hope. We played well enough today with half fit players (Ridvan, Sima, Balogun) and still were in the game for 90 minutes. Our midfield played like tigers but this might be an unpopular opinion... Cantwell is not the answer to our problems. I feel that he holds on to the ball too long, takes to many touches and simply is a luxury we can't afford. For me, we would have won that game if Sterling is in the middle with Dio and Raskin and we had more quality out wide and up top. That should be our aim next season.

  11. Just a wee side note... I've just seen the Walter Smith statue at Ibrox and it looks amazing. Sometimes these football sculptural tributes can backfire (Ronaldo anyone...?) but they have genuinely nailed it. What a tribute. Bravo Rangers.

    That's commitment.

Me - I'm heading for the back of the Couch.

Sadly, thousands of us will be watching from the same place Rousseau. C'mon Phil/Rangers surprise us. Do something different today.

    Was it bbc radio Scotland?

A home draw isn’t a high for the Hearts fans I know. At least one of them is raging.

Had to endure their coverage as I worked in the garden. Each Rangers goal was met with the same despondent tone you hear when a European side scores against a Scottish side in Europe. I wasn't even sure if we scored a third as Silvas goal was so low key from the commentator (Rob McLean)

  14. FFS. We must be the most predictable and gullible fan base in the world. We have literally had the league in our hands and shat the bed but hey let's get distracted with another orange strip.

It's not quite up there with the Charles Green fans Q and A from yesteryear. Our club was getting ran sacked before our eyes by a bunch of crooks and one of the first questions from one of our fans was "Are we getting an orange strip?". Jesus wept. No wonder Green and Co were laughing all the way to the bank.

A midfield of raskin ,sterling and dio and we will beat them .

This. Sterling should have started in the middle today and we should have pushed Dio up and onto Macgregor. He gets MOTM all the bloody time because we allow him the freedom to do so. Lawrence does not have the legs to press.

It's just pretty much the same.

There's not much else he can do with this squad.

That's the line up Rodgers would be expecting. I'd have Sterling in the middle and move Diaminde into the 10 role with McCausland wide right. I would also start Ridvan. If he's fit enough for the bench he's fit enough. Always start with strongest XI IMO.

A part of me thinks, if we can just beat them then it's a straight shoot-out, and we give ourselves a chance.

But, I don't even see us outscoring them over the last 2-3 games, never mind beating them.

    It's all a bit deflating.

Even if that's the case, we both play Dundee at home and my money would be on the Tims to run up a higher score than us in those games. If we win today, the big game for me is them going to Rugby Park. A draw there (not unlikely) would open the door for a potential points win in the title race.
