  1. McKay is far too lazy and can be anonymous when we are playing badly. When he should be one of the players to look to and lift our game. I'd happily see him leave.

I think McKay is the product of a bad environment, he never really got played under Mccoist and he probably wouldn't have faired to well either. he exceled under Warburton, but like Warburton I'm not sure he has the spine or the mental toughness to be a success here. He has showed flashes of it, and maybe working under PC he will kick on a bit, he maybe needed competition and to be challenged. I would move him central as well and give him a free role behind the striker.

  2. The rangers observer is saying that all three are in the squad. Im not sure if this site is part of the club or if they have an agreement with the club but they seem to be ITK about a lot of things going on.

  3. Is this account real?, Dorrans bid accepted. Walker 3rd bid of £750k submitted.

Not sure if it's someone in the know ian, I have seen it on a few sites, including twitter that the Dorrans bid had been accepted and they were preparing another bid for walker, I don't know if there is any truth in it though or someone has just started a rumor. I just wish we could get everyone signed up sharpish. Not sure if the first leg will be to soon for some of these guys.

  4. 18 is still really young for a keeper, still a few years till he is near the first team probably. Someone at Auchenhowie must like him, maybe he see's it as a better opportunity at Rangers, we do have a good record of producing good goalies.

If McCrorie and Kelly go on loan again this season he will be training with the first team and he will be first pick for the under 20's, who are going to be going all over Europe playing the best youth teams, something no other club in Scotland can offer just now.

Am I right in saying that senior players can play in these fixtures as well if they are coming back from injury.

  5. I was hoping they could come to an agreement on the kit, surely its better giving a higher percentage to the club and selling loads of stuff than giving us next to nothing and hardly selling anything.

how much longer does the puma deal have to run.

Is there still about 5 years notice to go on the Ashley deal

  6. So, in summary :

    Signed :

    Bruno Alves

    Ryan Jack

    On the way :

    Pena

Looks to me like Pedro is looking at the spine of the team and strengthening where we undoubtedly need it.

Bruno Alves - a commanding CB. A position we absolutely needed to strengthen. Twilight of his career but, unless his level falls off a cliff, more than good enough for this league

Ryan Jack - Ball winner in midfield. Another position we absolutely needed to strengthen, although it will be interesting if/when Kranjcar and Rossiter are fit who will play the midfield berths. Decent Scottish pro who was the 2nd placed teams captain last year.

Pena - creativity in midfield with a decent enough goal scoring record too. We lack creativity in my opinion so if he and/or Kranjcar can get and stay fit then we should be able to create more chances this season.

Herrera (if he comes) - we are crying out for a goalscorer - 3 goals in 9 games for Mexico doesn't tell you anything. But in his club career he has scored 47 goals in 173 games - which is a goal every 4 games. Not exactly stellar - but likewise, I have no idea how difficult the Mexican league is for goalscoring and whether the SPFL will be easier. This guy would be great at set pieces though given he is 6 ft 5 !!

I like the look of the business we seem to be doing - and the positions Pedro is filling are the ones most of us would agree needed strengthened

Didn't realize the big striker was 6.5. Looking at the business so far, you are right, definitely strengthening the spine of the team, we don't look like we are going to be any pushovers either

  7. I think its a great signing, was hoping ever since we were linked with him that it would come off, as mentioned above it is great to have a center back with such experience in there and a guy that is still being selected for Portugal on a regular basis even at 35. Not even that he is commanding and intimidating, a lot of forwards in our league will think twice about going up for headers or going in for 50/50's, our defence last year was as limp as I can remember, maybe with the exception of hill and once PC came in he managed to shore it up a bit.

Even from a youth players point of view, how invaluable is this going to be for guys like Aidan Wilson and David Bates to have this guy in the squad, they will learn a lot from someone like him.

  8. Regarding releases it will be interesting to see who turns up for first day of training next week or whenever that day is.

Im hoping its a mass exodus, there are so many players in that team just not up to standard, became even more apparent when the young guys came in and performed better. I didn't realize the English market didn't open till July. I reckon that's when you will see a lot of them head back to league 1 and league 2.

I thought PC might keep Garner but I think if he is going for Herrera he could be on his way to.

  9. Ryan Jack is not a traitor, but he is taking a step down joining Rangers says Aberdeen fan John McMillan

The midfielder has angered the Red Army after agreeing a deal with bitter rivals Rangers

ABERDEEN fans chief John McMillan has refused to brand Ryan Jack a traitor – but insists he is taking a step DOWN moving to Rangers.

SunSport understands Jack will today join new signing Bruno Alves at Ibrox as quickfire capture No2.

The ex-Dons skipper has undergone his medical and will be announced as Pedro Caixinha’s second summer signing.

But the controversial move has angered the Red Army, given the rivalry between both clubs.

And Aberdeen supporter John McMillan, head of the Gothenburg Reds fan group, believes the 25-year-old is making the wrong move.

He said: “If he goes to Rangers it will come as a massive surprise. It’s definitely a shock.

“He’s not a Rangers fan, a lot of his family are but he’s not.“I don’t class him as a traitor. He’s doing what is best for him and his family at the end of the day.

“If I’m being honest, at the moment I think he’s making a step down.“Maybe in two years’ time when Rangers are back where everyone expects them to be, then it might have been a good move. But not at the moment.

“I think realistically Aberdeen are looking at definitely getting more trophies and I think it would have been an ideal place for him to stay at.“Potentially a move somewhere else might have been better for him because I don’t even think Rangers will finish second this season.“I still think Aberdeen have the potential to do it next season.”

While Aberdeen reached two domestic Cup finals, Rangers failed to land any silverware after a miserable campaign.

And John reckons the only reason Jack will swap Pittodrie for Ibrox is for a bigger pay packet.

He said: “Why is he leaving? Money I think.“He’s at a place at Aberdeen where he wasn’t going to get captaincy next season.

“I think it’s maybe partly behind that. If I’m being honest I wouldn’t have expected him to have signed a new deal with Aberdeen.

“I think two years ago when he signed, he got captaincy to keep him.“But I don’t think we’re in a position to keep him this time because there is nothing else to offer him.”

John also claimed Jack WON’T be missed at Pittodrie and backed new signing Greg Tansey to fill the void.

He said: “I don’t think he’ll be missed. It’s not an issue.“We’ve got replacements there that can cover for him no problem.

“We have Greg Tansey coming in and fingers crossed we can maybe sort something out for Ryan Christie.“That’s two replacements that I think would be able to cover for Ryan Jack.”

Jack is likely to come in for some heavy flack next season when he faces Aberdeen in a light blue jersey.

And John added: “He won’t get a good reception, that’s for certain.“Will he dread coming to Pittodrie? No, I don’t think so.

“As a player I think you’ve got to accept that if you make a move to one of your most hated teams then you have to be prepared to deal with it I suppose.”

Hahahahaha this is great, they are absolutely seething. I think Jack is a good astute signing but nothing spectacular, he is a good Scottish pro who will probably do a good job in a rangers shirt, I think the fact they are so upset about this makes the transfer even better, if our transfer deals come off we will be miles ahead of Aberdeen, and to say Tansey is an adequate replacement, did he not get relegated with Caley Thistle.

  10. Central midfielder.

Started his career more as an attacking midfielder but now sits a little further back but I wouldn't go as far as to call him a defensive midfielder. Solid consistent passing %, decent in the air for a midfielder, creates a lot of chances and likes to get stuck in

    Capture.png

I always thought Dorrans was more of an attacking player, but as you say it looks like he has been moved back slightly but not quite in the defensive role, he looks a solid midfielder from those stats and will probably chip in with a few goals, I think he will be a good player, he has played at a good level his entire career.

As mentioned above you just need to look at the Scotland manager to see why he can't get in the team, a guy that continually picks Barry Bannan, Steven Fletcher and lets Scott Brown come and go as he pleases while omitting someone like Oliver Burke, the mans an idiot and the sooner he is removed the better.

I'm not going to get carried away but our moves so far in the transfer market have been really positive and will hopefully set us up for a good season ahead, just hope we can get a good center forward in, the boy Herrera looks a player, remains to be seen if we can tempt him over though.

  11. They ... have been rather lucky with players this season. There is no doubt that Sinclair and Dembele gave them a great boost. Yet it remains very much to be seen which of these players will be there next season, whether they can achieve the same level of performance - individually and as a team - again and whether they can remain injury free. Incoming transfers there might be, but who can say for sure how they will kick on? We all know how football works and as far as I am aware, their finances are not that great - again - unless they sell someone/-few to have another 5 or 10m to spend. Or whether their board actually deems it necessary ...

You are right DB they have been good this year, they have been riding the crest of a wave. They definitely wont have as good a season next year, someone pointed this out the other day that Rodgers seems to suffer from second season syndrome, I don't think Sinclair will be as good next year either.

As stated in this thread we need to get our signings spot on this time and we surely can't have as bad a transfer window

I think they will win the league but I dnt think the gap will be as big, I reckon we will win a cup

  12. I think he's the kind of player who, when he's playing well, you don't really notice him.. if you know what I mean

yeah lenny I completely agree, won't be asked to do a lot and go about his business quietly, but will also be very effective. I massive improvement on what we have.

  13. I think he likes to get in about it, don't know much about him tbh, other than seeing him play against rangers this season. can play as a RB or DM, think he can also drop in at center back if need be.

You just need to look at media outlets and social media to see how livid some of the Aberdeen fans are about this, I don't think they would be this up in arms if he wasn't a decent player, plus he is their captain.

I follow a guy on twitter called theSPFLradar, he does a lot of analysis on players, from memory I think Jack rates quite highly on interceptions and and defensive duels, I don't think he is going to be the prettiest player, I think he will be used to go and win the ball in midfield when we lose possession.

  14. 3.5 million release clause for Windas

Million for Waghorn he has six championship teams in for him

Million for Wilson he is a international

    350 000 Holt

    350 000 MOF

    350 000 Halliday

    500 000 Crooks

    750 000 Tavernier

    1 million Hodson another international

    750 000 Kiernan

2 million Wallace down to age international

DH I think that is very generous, there is no way anyone will meet that release clause for Windass, I think we would be lucky to get between 1 and 1.5 million for him. Anyone that pays a million for Waghorn is on drugs and I would happily carry him on my back to anyone that wants to buy him for a million he is a 500k player max, and on current form I think we would get 300k for him.

Holt will stay or he will go to some mid level SPL team like St Johnstone or Partick for about 100k,

I think we will cut our losses with MOH and he will be back at St Johnstone and they will waive any outstanding fee.

Halliday I think is the same as holt, will end up at an SPL team or back down to league 1, McCall might have him back at Bradford.

Crooks again 200k max, he is constantly injured, looks a tidy big player but I would hope Pedro would give him 6 months to prove his worth and then decide if he is going to punt him or not.

I agree with Tav, he is a decent wing back for all his flaws, I would keep him, I can see Warburton trying to get him, Windass, Kiernan and McKay

Again very generous with Hodson, he is an international player, but not a regular, he couldn't get a game for MK Dons and tbh isn't that great a player, he had one great game against celtic and that's about it, 100k probably.

Kiernan possibly 300 / 400k if you are lucky and get Warburton to buy him.

Wallace is never worth 2 million but I would keep him, proven ability in the SPL but is he not like the 4th choice left back for Scotland, I would definitely keep him

  15. According to MW, Kiernan is a Premier League player, so he must be worth at least £10 million, surely.

That's it, sold, to the bald man from Nottingham Forrest.

Honestly with any luck he will convince this new owner at Forrest that he has a clue what he is doing and take a few of them down south. At the end of the day its his daughters company that are going to get a slice of any prospective transfer fee so an incentive to bump the fee up a bit.

  16. The only player we have worth any kind of money is Barry Mackay and it's clear to me that he is going to see out his contract then leave for nothing unless we make him a new offer or sell him in one of the next two windows. What's he worth, would you say, £1/2 million tops and not all up front.

The others, don't make me weep. Kiernan, Waghorn, Halliday, Holt, Windass, Crooks, Tavs; doubt you'd get a million for the lot.

If wee Barrie isn't going to play ball I'd punt him straight away, I reckon you could get 2 mill for him, if warburton wants him 3.5. he can take the rest of them with him as well, out of that lot I reckon you could get a couple of million, that's only due to the fact that these guys have played down south before though and I think that's a good selling point when you are trying to get rid of them. I reckon you could get 750-1mill for tav easily down there.

  17. I would rather we went for tried and tested tbh, we need to give a better account of ourselves next year, we can start going for unkowns and rough diamonds once the standard of the squad has increased significantly. Warburton plucked guys from obscurity in league 1 and he lower end of the championship that had a good start early in their careers but had lost there way a bit, thinking he could turn their career around but at the end of the day they are playing at that level for a reason.

  18. I agree with Rosseau, I think he just floats about between the midfielders and the forwards, but can comfortably play up front or in midfield, he is a pest, he hassles opponents, he has grit and determination, gets in about it. Apart from that he is good in the air, he is intelligent and he makes space and times his runs really well, would be a great move, if not him and garner up front, what about him and Cummings, seems to be a lot of chatter about that.
