I am not a lafferty fan but In his defence I think he was mostly played on the left wing for us so it is a bit unfair expecting a strikers tally in goals. Personally I would prefer a striker who can head the ball. I would have an inquiery about Bas Dost as I know he is unhappy at Sp. Lisbon. I have no idea what the financial side is though.

Yeah agreed pete. I did suggest Bas Dost a while ago on this thread, as I understand he is away from SP after being attacked, however is Sporting Lisbon are taking their case to CAS to try and get money for the GK, lemar and someone else, not sure if it worth going through all that to be eventually told we need to pay 10 mill for him. would be the type of striker I think we could use, I think it was Rosseaua who was talking about him, you basically need to build a team around him, I wouldn't be to worried about that with the squad we have now tho, we are full of runners, if Bas Dost was in the middle sticking the ball in the net I could live with that

Agreed ... but I remember a certain Davie Cooper being horribly inconsistent too. ?

I have to say I think he will do well this season when he comes here, you know he will run himself in to the ground for the team and he can play out wide or through the centre, 10-15 goals would be a good return from him.

  3. He is not the marquee signing everyone was looking for, he was horribly inconsistent the last time he was with us but did have his moments, he is a few years older with more experience now. Gerrard seems to be a really good motivator as well and I think that's what lafferty needs, at the end of the day he is an international striker, has played at a decent level throughout his entire career. I can't imagine Celtic's centre half's will be looking forward to dealing with Lafferty and Morelos on the 2nd of September.

As part of this so-called Lafferty deal, why would hertz want LW, a player who's hardly played over the past year ?

I don't think they do Rab, I think that's why the bid got booted out at the weekend, I would imagine Wallace will be with us until the end of the season, I hope he gets his issues sorted out

  5. Yeah the goal on Saturday hasn't really helped us

If they can structure the deal as 400k up front, plus 100k if he scores over ten goals this season, plus another £250K if we win the league then I could see that happening, £750k all in is a no go for me without any of the other caveats.

I can't wait till the transfer window is closed, I'm checking this website every hour and refreshing my twitter feed to find out what's going on.

More quality signings would at this stage probably amount to more icing on the cake. We're already looking formidable largely playing with just 10 men and still haven't fielded our strongest 11.  If we can go to the piggery early September still leading them on points and take something there the meltdown will be epic.

They're already starting to turn on Brenda who handed them two consecutive trebles due to one league loss to Hearts. That's going to be magnified 10 fold if they go out in Greece then were to lose to us. They have become too used to being stronger than we were while taking being dominant for granted.

As far as i'm concerned we have been the most impressive team in the league albeit after only two games. Two games we dominated while a man down while the yahoos needed a penalty to get a 3-1 win over newly promoted Livingston.

The same Livingston who were beaten to the Championship title by St Mirren with a 12 point margin and the same St Mirren we overpowered with 10 men.  Next week will be a telling game. Away to Killie who gave us issues last time out but I expect a win if we can keep 11 men on the pitch.

I suppose I should also throw in a mention for Hearts. Impressive 4-1 away win at Accies last week then beat the yahoos. I hope they overtake hubz this season though they might not be the same force without Lafferty who looks ever more likely to be coming our way.

I expect us to get a centre half and a striker in regardless, if we get to the group stages I'm sure Gerrard said there would be another two or three on top of that.

They have been to concerned about what is going on with us to be concerned about themselves, now a bad result and the world is against them again, it would be great if they had a disaster of a run and were eliminated from the champs league, that loss of that extra income would be catastrophic for them, and if we go on to beat them in September it would be full on meltdown, we can but dream.

  7. I know I am not really one for getting involved in politics either mate, only interested in the rangers, but I do like hearing other people's opinions and I wholeheartedly agree with busters statement and will leave it at that

Essentially, the Political system has been 'hijacked' and is no longer fit for purpose of serving the interests of the majority.

We were warned, but a hell of a lot of people refused to listen, I never heard one single financial expert even attempt to paint Brexit as a good idea, but people have chosen to ignore experts, and believe power crazed fuckwits such as Gove and Johnson, and their bus ad drivel. Brussels is only doing what we knew they would, we need to look a hell of a lot closer to home if there's blame to be shovelled out.

I never voted for Brexit, but if a vote came round now I'm not sure I would vote to remain in the EU either, the whole thing is a mess. I understand that, I don't want Johnson or Gove anywhere near power, but I don't want our country to answer to Merkel or Junker either but the vote has been cast and now we need to live with the consequences, we can do things about the people in power at home, we can vote them out .

I'm not being naïve, I did say we should take our share because of the leave vote,  It just seems this has been a long drawn out process and we have to sacrifice more, surely if we vote leave, then we leave and not become a pariah state of the EU, I know there is fault on our side as well, probably most of the fault. I'm fed up of the whole thing, it is a burden on society and the sooner it is sorted the better so that we can move on.

Serious question, not trolling, but how can this Brexit fiasco make anyone feel more British?...

I just feel we are being punished by Brussels for the way people voted, I know we have to take the burden of the Eurpoean Union and whatever we owe and I'm ok with that, we have to take our fair share. If someone asked me are you European or British, obviously I am British, If we are coming out of the EU we need to protect that.

Aye so you did. You voted for Independence now use the word “separatists”, you must try harder.

Aye cos you know better, where I put the X in the box, superb, that's the attitude. I voted SNP my whole life and I believed independence was the best thing for the country because we would still be in Europe, now with Brexit I don't believe that to be the case, however the SNP are so determined for another independence referendum it seems absolutely crazy and selfish, that's why I used separatists because it seems to be independence at all costs, people are allowed to change their minds and opinions, particularly on political parties and issues.

I will be honest I was never to fussed about the union, I was Scottish and then British, still feel that way, again however with the whole Brexit saga and the leanings of the SNP, I have never felt more British.

  11. Great article, I voted for the SNP the last time and voted for independence.

Their leanings to a certain football team do come in to it for me, I get the feeling I'm down the pecking order because I'm a white protestant male and because of the team I support.

They are a bunch of separatists and I will never vote SNP again, or independence for that matter. They have caused so much division in this country and I wouldn't be unhappy if they were removed from power, the only thing is who do you replace them with, British politics is a shambles, Corbyn and Abbott in Labour and May and Johnson in the conservatives, it really is pretty depressing

I do agree. The Scottish media continues to peddle the line, however,  generally when being critical of Rangers' financial position.

It would be very interesting if there was even a scintilla of truth in the assertion, as it would amount to financial doping.

I have no doubt that goes on in football, was Desmond not approached by the BBC recently about dealings in his bank.

I have also heard they are playing a high risk strategy, qualification for the champs league means they can go and buy a player or two, but if they don't qualify then there is no money or little money available, I'm just enjoying the start to this season, Gerrard coming in, all the new players plus the performances, we really seem to be on the way up.

Elvir Koljić actually looks like a target man type, seems strong in the air and offers a different dimension from what we have. He could be an exciting addition.

I'm guessing with interest in these guys that we've decided to leave Lafferty until the winter or next summer on a free. If so I feel a bit sorry for him because we got his hopes up.

Yeah thought that to mate, I wouldn't imagine he would be that expensive either playing in the Bosnian league, who knows, but he does look a decent all rounder, wee hodzic reminds me a bit of a poacher, always at the back post, like Gerrard says, he is looking for different options, exciting times.

Looks like Brighton are preparing a bid for Tav

  14. If Ipswich have offered 1.2 that is an utterly derisory offer, your right craig they can triple it or feck off, plus put a massive sell on clause in his contract. I hate that teams like Ipswich are coming in with offers like that, just shows you what they think of our league.

Uilleam I don't think Desmond can do that now because of FFP, I don't think he can just open up the cheque book, I might be mistaken but I'm sure everything needs to be accounted for, not sure if they will be able to make a work around so he can do that and comply with FFP, who knows.

DMAA I had a quick look a him on youtube last night (I know), he does seem to score a few headed goals, will see if he can make the step up, I'm surprised we aren't going for an experienced striker.

I'm a wee bit baffled that we're spending this amount on a left back.

We have positions far more in need of reinforcements.  We should have won yesterday and probably would have if we'd been a bit more clinical and creative in the final third.

I'm not surprised, defence was a major problem for us last year, he is building a solid foundation from back to front, if you think about it defence and goalkeeper is positions that don't really change much, if you have a solid defence these guys will be here for the long term, we can then start concentrating on positions going forward, in midfield Jack, Coulibally and Arfield would be my starters every week, however if they get injured I think we are a bit light. Gerrard has said we are still in the market for a striker, I hope its two if Lafferty is another deal we are looking at, but we do have good options, I think barasic can play as a left midfielder/winger if need be, he is going to provide balance to that side as well, it has been a bit of a problem in the games iv watched because we always have to come inside when we are attacking down the left

Hodson is better defensively than Tav, but not even close going forward.

I don't think Hodson is a better defender than Tav, Hodson is truly awful. I just see Tav as a bit of a weak link in that defence atm, he could probably do a job further forward, he is constantly getting drawn towards the ball then we get a high ball over the top and no one is marking the oppositions LM of LF.
