  1. Apologies in advance if something like this has been posted already...

Just watched the Community Shield highlights. Can't judge too much off one game, but I can't see Chelsea repeating as champions. Just something missing.

As for who will win, i'm really not sure. My favourite PL team is Tottenham, and I've liked them for now for around 9 years. White Hart Lane is one of the few non-Ibrox stadiums i've visited as a fan. That all said, though I think they will be in the hunt again, I think playing at Wembley will hurt them. Takes away some home field advantage.

I think one of the Manchester teams. Between the two, I have always preferred Utd, so why not - i'll go for them.

    What are other people's thoughts?

  2. The English think we hate them - period!!! Nothing to do with the SNP, Indy or anything else.

Also a high percentage don't like us either - they believe we're a drain on English resources.

Voting the SNP out will only harm Scotland, and do nothing to change English perception.

Like a bat signal eh! Here I am.

Though i've been accused of it here, i'm not a card-carrying SNP guy. I do, however, think they are currently the best voice for Scotland - they are certainly the most committed. That said, they aren't above criticism and deserve some of it.

I'm in a unique position in some ways - a Glaswegian who lived in England for a long time before being able to return. My view is most English people don't have a specific opinion about Scots/Scotland, but for those who do, it is mixed. I think the 'Scotland is a drain on the UK' is fairly widely held, even if I totally disagree with it.

The dislike is certainly more strong from us, but I understand why. I don't hate England, but I don't wish to be governed by their MP's.

  3. We seem to have lost a member for an off the cuff statement that I made so better to keep off the subject. That is maybe the problem it that is not open to discussion.

That's your perogative of course. No pressure here. If you're interested though, I wonder what it is you think should be up for discussion. I'm sure aspects of the issue can be. As I said earlier, I can find campness irritating (though I would never care enough to ask someone to change).

  4. The use of the word Homo was laziness in typing and not knowing it was hurtful. I have had many acquaintances and even a family member that was gay and never had any problem. I will drop out of this subject as it is obvious I can't say any good.

I don't think you should be excluded from any discussion, and I can tell you weren't trying to be hurtful. It can be a learning experience is all. None of us are perfect.

  5. What do you mean 'idiots' who don't accept homosexuality?

I consider a heterosexual relationship as 'normal'. I do not accept homosexuality as normal. However, I do not rail against a person of such persuasion. I consider their choice as their own business. I just prefer to maintain an arms-length acceptance.

I prefer not to have a friendship with a homosexual person, however, I would not exclude them from any group or workforce.

I do not think it is fair to disparage a person within a group because they make choices that are different from mine as long as they are legal, and I expect the same in return.

Not quite sure what you mean by normal. I'm not gay myself, but the most normal thing I think is loving who your heart tells you to. One of the greatest misconceptions is that there's a choice.

Why do you think someone would choose to be gay given the hassle they get for it?

  6. Was my post so extreme? I apologise I didn't realise that. I was indeed trying to be fair and just give an opinion.

I suppose it is not a subject open to discussion and that is a part of the problem I have.

I think it is open to discussion, but there are some things that should be taken for granted: 1) words like homo are a slur that no-one deserves. 2) Attitudes like 'as long as they don't touch me' sounds - more than anything - really old-fashioned. Would you be happy with anyone you don't know touching you? What has sexuality got to do with it.

As I say, I can tell you were trying to be fair, but some of the language (probably inadvertently) was really hurtful.

  7. You are a moderator - yes? Then Moderate my account off this forum because you are a blinkered fucking arsehole! I have seen lots of comments on here about 'educated' , 'mature' forum. Fuck sake - read this post from a moderator. I wont be missed but its mutual.

I hope you don't go, Anchorman. I'm not sure if we would agree about everything, but voices like yours are crucial. I agree that those comments from pete were unacceptable, but as I said to him, it came across more like someone trying (though he failed) to say something positive. Hopefully through talking to others with a different perspective, views can evolve.

  8. Most normal people don't bother about the sexual preferences of others but Homosexuals seem to feel the need to shout it from the rafters. There is of course the idiots who don't accept homosexuality and even use violence against Homo's. My vision is as long as they don't touch me or others who are not Homo let them live their lives.

I think campness is quite affected, and can be pretty irritating, yes, but so are many traits with many people.

I can tell you're trying to be fair here so fair enough, but less of the 'homos', and 'I hope they don't touch me' - they're human beings.

  9. Didn't see the game but the German board chaps said it was a well deserved but - as expected - hard-work win and a good 3 points won today.

Just watched the extended highlights and from those we should have buried them (how often have we said that).

Our new chaps will have to get used to the way Scottish teams play us and it will sure take at least another 4 or 5 games before that will happen. Wonder who will be let loose against the Pars.

Thanks for posting - hadn't seen the highlights yet so was reluctant to comment.

What I took from that was how great Windass looked! Maybe he had some bad stuff that weren't in the highlights package, but touch, pace, positioning, inventiveness - it was all there.

Defense is a bit of a worry, but I think the team as a whole probably has some gelling to do which might help it a bit.

I thought the 'well goal was on Foderingham. I'm no goalie coach, but he could have had that I think.

    Delighted for Dorrans.

  10. I still don't think we do enough for our disabled brethren yet, we're getting there but needs some more attention,

Absolutely. I think Ibrox should be easily accessible to any potential fan who loves the club, simple as that.

I guess the issue is that someone struggling with sexuality becomes isn't as visible as someone with a disability. Not that it's any more or less significant an issue.

  11. Are you familiar with the typical usage of the phrase "credit where it's due"?

I said that in the context of previous contributions here where I have been negative. My point is, I am happy to congratulate the club when they earn it. I can tell you my own feelings, and I don't grudge it at all.

  12. I wasn't aware there was an issue with it.

I'm not LGBT myself, so I can't speak to it personally, but it's fairly clear that there being no openly gay professional playing in Scotland shows a fear factor there.

I don't think there's a particular problem with Rangers, but i'm glad they are doing something to be publicly inclusive.

  13. No you were careful not to while rxcusing his actions. I expevt you thought it was clever.

It's an opinion for christ sake, get a grip.

Do you really think what he said is that bad? I'm not excusing it, he shouldn't have said it, but it's hardly the worst thing a Celtic player or fan has ever said.

As I say, he's a tool, but don't get your knickers in a twist over it. I didn't bring it up, but seen as Bluedell did - no, it's not comparable to genuinely offensive sectarian/bigoted language. And no, i'm not saying it's just some Rangers fans who do that. Both fanbases have people who do. But sometimes it's good to look in the mirror.

  14. Yeah, chat's only offensive if it's said by a Rangers fan...

I don't think there's anything particularly offensive about it. It's stupid more than anything else.

I have no problem with chat from Rangers fans and I do it myself. That's not the same as bigotry/sectarianism etc which happens on both sides though.

Chill out and stop being so crazy defensive. It's not like I took his side.

  15. Which branch of the 7 family are you, RB? Hederson7? Waddell7, perhaps.

Hope it's not the Larrson or Johnstone 7s.

The 7 isn't really a football thing, strictly. However, I always liked Kanchelskis a lot.

  16. Sad news I'm afraid.

Aparantly some rangers fans "roughed up" a 70 year old fella.

This fella works tirelessly for Macmillan cancer research and is seen pushing a shopping trolley round Sheffield and surrounding towns collecting.

The reason he was targeted was due to his green wig and flags.

It took a few wednesday fans to calm the situation and inform the gers fans of this blokes activities. Not before they had stole his wig and destroyed his flags.

Unfortunately these kind of reports are the ones that the media pick up on. Not the 99.99% of the rest of your fans who behaved impeccably.

This is very sad, but as everyone has basically said, in a big crowd of drinking excited fans, this sort of stuff will happen.

Shame there are morons who only associate green one way - though I totally understand it as the colour now gies me the boke generally.

Really glad and proud to see fans donating to that just giving page though. Good on all concerned with that.

  17. Never a Bear, River or otherwise, Timposter.

Believe what you like, but this is absolutely untrue. Of course Rangers fans have varied views (you have seen some of them on this very thread).

It would be convenient if I wasn't a true Rangers fan, because that would allow you to ignore the issues. This is too frequently the case.
