Domestic Competition - Prize Money

Recommended Posts

We all know that we rely heavily on making the Champions League group stages for holding up our balance sheets.

Does anyone know what winning each of the three domestic competitions is worth to us financially? What is the prize money on offer.

I would imagine Bluedell will know last years from the Rangers accounts.

Also worth noting that on top of the prize money and gate revenues there's large payments made per club, per game from the BBC and Sky/ESPN for the Cup games they decide to broadcast. Other payments from radio broadcasting etc are nowhere near as significant though.

So we're looking at just shy of £500k for winning the cup and £110,000 for the CIS. Plus obviously gates, t.v etc which is probably wiped out by costs and appearance fees, bonuses etc.

Nigh on feck all?

.

I'd be pretty surprised if we made any more than our £1m p/a loan repayment from the two Cups, but money is money, so the more the club makes from the Cups, the better. Some people talk about dumping the CIS Cup (or 'diddy cup'), but even a club of our size won't be sniffing at the money that comes in from it. It could be much better obviously, but this is Scotland.

600K in a country which has no money in football isn't all that bad tbh.
