Bolton, Sunderland, West Brom etc are all in the top half of the premiership and are considerably inferior to anyone in the top half of La Liga (and other teams too) The premiership generally just has 4 teams competing because there's only 4 particularly strong sides. They didn't quite make the top 4 last season but they will this season Spurs are a good team but nothing more, they need to be able to beat the top sides in England away from home. They have bridged the gap though. Everton and Spurs are decent teams outwith the top 4/on the periphery, after that though the premiership is a weak league.
