MIH make £73m loss

Recommended Posts

Some investment properties that were previously depreciated but are now been reclassified as stock.

And in my previous post I actually deleted my question of "surely not investment properties" as I thought it was a ludicrous suggestion in the first place.

That, to me at least, seems like a wholly short-term perspective. So what will he do next year if those same properties increase in value and he has them in stock ? He wont be able to revalue them if his auditors are worth their salt.

Property markets are as suppressed as I would think they are going to get (maybe another little bit to go but surely not much......) so he is effectively writing off the increase in value of those properties. What is the valuation method of MIH stock BD ? FIFO/LIFO ?

I would love to know how he justified (and convinced his auditors) that investment properties were stock......
