Danny wilson wants ibrox loan switch

Recommended Posts

DANNY WILSON last night issued a come-and-get-me plea to Rangers to keep his Scotland dream alive.

Liverpools teenage defender knows he will need to move on loan from Anfield if he is to remain in Scotland manager Craig Leveins plans.

And he revealed heading back to Ibrox appeals to him.

Wilson made only eight appearances for Liverpool last season following his £2million move from the SPL champions last summer. Despite his lack of match action the 19-year-old has forced his way into Leveinâs squad and starred in the 2-1 friendly win over Denmark.

Ally McCoist was linked with a loan move for Wilson during the close season, and with Madjid Bougherra having left and a failed bid for Anderlechts Roland Juhasz, the Rangers boss remains keen to strengthen his defence.

Wilson said: ââ?¬Å?Going back to Rangers on loan would appeal to me because I spent a lot of time there ââ?¬â?? from when I was eight years old to 18 ââ?¬â?? but as far as Iââ?¬â?¢m aware there has been no contact from them.

ââ?¬Å?I completely understand the national team needs people to be playing week in, week out ââ?¬â?? I was surprised to be in the squad having not played regularly for Liverpool but I was grateful to be included. The boss has obviously seen something in me to keep bringing me back but I know I canââ?¬â?¢t keep living off what Iââ?¬â?¢ve done in the past.ââ?¬Â

Wilson has discussed going out on loan with Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish, above.

He said: ââ?¬Å?Kenny has been really supportive. He knows I want to go and play somewhere and he needs me to go and play too. I need to get more experience.

Wison has now realised that he was far better of with us than going for the big glamorous move, in football terms anyway, but the young have their heads turned easily by theeir agents, the very people employed to look after them. There's no point in going on about the role of agents, so I'll leave it there.

What is obvious is that we're in great need of defenders and Wilson is top class, as seen by his performance for Scotland the other night. Get him back now.

The problem here is, Weir came back for another season because he wanted to play on if he wasn't going to get that would he have come back and is our captain, Goian has been signed a Romanian international has he come to sit on the bench i don't think so, Wenger has sent Bartley back to us on loan he wants him to play first team football, Now Wilson wanting to come back on loan will Dalgleish not want him to get first team football as does he he wants to keep his Scotland place, And Ally has been trying to sign Juhasz/Cuellar to replace Bougherra seems the Cuellar deal is dead and Juhasz.

We have Weir, Goian, Bartley, Perry, McMillan, if you add Wilson loan to play CB or a quality CB signing Ally would have a nice headache to choose from.

RANGERS are set to step up their bid to bring Danny Wilson back to Ibrox - as Ally McCoist faces up to a defensive crisis.

Gers boss McCoist is desperately seeking to bolster his back line ahead of Thursday's Europa League crunch clash with Maribor.

He fears crocked Kyle Bartley's hopes of making the Slovenia tie are fading fast - and that has plunged Gers into a Euro nightmare.

Skipper David Weir is injured, Lee McCulloch is struggling and both Sasa Papac and Steven Whittaker are suspended.

If Bartley fails to make it, McCoist will be left with only Lee Wallace, Kirk Broadfoot, Dorian Goian and kid Ross Perry as defensive cover.

The gaffer will meet with director of football Gordon Smith in a bid to speed up a bid for Wilson.

Gers still have the option to bring one player into the squad for the Euro ties and the former Ibrox kid - now at Liverpool - would be an ideal loan signing.

Deals for defenders Carlos Cuellar and Roland Juhasz are now OFF the table and the groin injury Bartley suffered in Saturday's 2-0 win over Inverness could have forced McCoist's hand.

The Arsenal loan star failed to respond to treatment yesterday and his chances of starting against Maribor were rated last night as less than 50-50.

Gers will also make one last push to sign Alejandro Bedoya before Wednesday's Europa League deadline.

They already have a deal in place to bring in the USA midfielder on a Bosman from Swedish club Orebro in January.

After securing a UK work permit for the 24-year-old at the end of last week McCoist would like to have Bedoya at his disposal now.

The Swedes have already knocked back a Gers bid of £400,000.

Director of football Smith said: "The Bedoya situation is one we have to consider but that's down to Ally and I'll be having discussions with him regarding a number of things in the morning."
