Singing I'm No a Billy he's a Tim - Blog

At a quick count Danny, the City of Glasgow itself has 19 non-denominational secondary schools and 12 Roman Catholic secondary schools. When you take into account the reasonably high number of non-protestant pupils in the non-denominational schools I think it's fair to say that (at first glance at least) this doesn't paint a picture of Roman Catholics being much of a "minority".

As I said, if you want a true representation of what sort of size this so-called minority is, then look at the education system. You don't breed like rabbits because of a religious ban on contraception and abortion and remain a minority in a small country for very long.

As someone who was lived his entire life in deepest darkest Lanarkshire let me tell you Danny the place is rife with them. There maybe slightly less in numbers but by fuck they are organised. They get involved with everything that will push the catholic agenda forward they know the system inside out and back to front. And they shout the loudest about any little thing that doesn't suit them and we all know if you shout the loudest for the longest you are the one that's heard.

They have over the years quietly and deliberately got themselves into positions of power within all aspects of life while still playing the downtrodden oppressed people card a very dangerous mix.

I don't know the true figures either Danny, but I do know that in Lanarkshire there can't be that much of a difference because there's a LOT of catholic schools. A LOT!!

Think there's about 750,000 catholics, 500,000 other religions and the rest Church of Scotland. Not sure where atheists come in though.

Are these figures from a good source mate?

Don't quote me but off the top of my head that was what the last census produced. What I am sure of though is that Catholicism is not a threat to the Church of Scotland.

I'll have dig around and see where I'm drawing my assertions from.

I know it's Wiki, but it's better than most give credit for.

Slightly more Catholics than I thought but my assertion still applies; the Church of Scotland is safe.

My old man always says: "The further you go outside of the West Coast the less Catholics you find". I'm also positive that they call Catholics in the Highlands -Catholic highlanders, which alludes to minority.

I really don't trust the census mate. I don't think it even remotely comes close to painting an accurate picture.

At the end of day, what we're now discussing is about the definition of "minority". Chinese, Pakistanis, Polish; these are minority communities in Scotland, but Roman Catholics? I think not and that's why I'll question any claim that they're a minority. It's a myth. They maybe want to be seen as a minority (and that might be reflected in census figures), but they definitely aren't.

I see what you are getting dude but I personally feel no threat from them as a changing nation. Minorities always shout the loudest, living in NI for 12 years has proven that and now Scotland is the same. But then, they've possibly always shouted louder since it's only now through the growth of the internet that we see it and hear it more?

Scotland's current issues, imo, is that socialists are growing. SNP and all their shit are driving it.

It's interesting that you use the phrase "changing nation" because in my mind the nation is changing in a way that I don't want it to. In terms of Scotland, I don't want a Scotland ruled by the catholic church, but in all honesty, it's not too far off being that way.

You can't compare the two church's simply by numbers. C of S stopped being a force in this country years ago as they stepped back the RC Church stepped up and started applying pressure on matters it wanted changed. Then they started all things not Catholic are bad and your a bigot if you don't agree. If you don't think the RC Church will have a big say in the independence debate that's coming then the union is fhucked.

You just have to look at the reaction when faith schools are mentioned in Scotland to see how much power the RC Church holds.
