Sky has just said it's an 8 game ban and £40,000 fine.

 

Total joke, blinkered slightly as I have never liked Evra and read he has accused other players of the same thing.

Before it was announced Liverpool had already said they would appeal and means he will still feature in the festive fixtures.

You could argue why the FA haven't started proceedings on Terry.

Liverpool will be without Luis Suarez for over a month after he was hit with a record eight-game ban by the Football Association after he was found guilty of racist abuse.

 

The Uruguayan looks set to miss the Reds' season-defining schedule after he was charged with using insulting language towards Manchester United defender Patrice Evra in October.

 

It means that Liverpool could go into a triple header with Manchester City in the Premier League and Carling Cup semi-final in addition to an FA Cup third round tie against Oldham Athletic.

 

In addition to the record ban, Suarez had been hit with an £80,000 fine and has yet to be punished for gesticulating to Fulham fans during his side's defeat at Craven Cottage earlier this month.

 

But the ban will not take effect until after a possible appeal, which Liverpool are expected to lodge within the allotted 14-day period, which means Suarez will remains in contention for tomorrow's visit to Wigan in addition the Boxing Day visit of Blackburn Rovers to Anfield.

 

An FA statement claimed that the Independent Regulatory Commission, which had been expected to deliver its findings last Friday, found that Suarez had "used insulting words towards Mr Evra" and

"included a reference to Mr Evra's colour within the meaning of Rule E3".

 

Looks like different reports on the fine but probably go along with the sky story of £40k.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been suspended for eight matches and fined £40,000 by the Football Association.

 

Suarez was found guilty of misconduct after Manchester United defender Patrice Evra accused the Uruguay international of racially abusing him during the Premier League clash at Anfield on October 15.

 

The Reds forward can appeal against the unprecedented sanction and the suspension will not come into effect until after the outcome of any further hearing.

 

Liverpool have 14 days from the point when they receive the FA's written reasons for their decision to lodge an appeal, with the ban not beginning until this date has passed.

 

A statement from the FA read: "On 16 November 2011, The Football Association charged Luis Suarez with misconduct contrary to FA Rule E3 in relation to the Liverpool FC versus Manchester United FC fixture on 15 October 2011.

 

"A hearing took place from 14-20 December 2011 before an Independent Regulatory Commission of The FA to consider the charge.

 

"The Independent Regulatory Commission announced its decision on 20 December 2011, which is as follows:

 

1. Mr Suarez used insulting words towards Mr Evra during the match contrary to FA Rule E3(1);

 

2. the insulting words used by Mr Suarez included a reference to Mr Evra's colour within the meaning of Rule E3(2);

 

3. Mr Suarez shall be warned as to his future conduct, be suspended for eight matches covering all first team competitive matches and fined the sum of £40,000;

 

4. the [penalty] is suspended pending the outcome of any appeal lodged by Mr Suarez against this decision.

 

"Mr Suarez has the right to appeal the decision of the Independent Regulatory Commission to an Appeal Board. An appeal must be lodged within 14 days of the date of the written reasons for the decision.

 

"The penalty is suspended until after the outcome of any appeal, or the time for appealing expires, or should Mr Suarez decide not to appeal. The reason for this is to ensure that the penalty does not take effect before any appeal so that Mr Suarez has an effective right of appeal."

Wouldn't surprise me if he did it, although it's a serious ban for being verbally abusive. Players get off with a 2 or 3 game ban for punching another player sometimes.

Have to admit, I'm having a wee giggle about it. I hate liverpool and even more Suarez. Rat!

 

Fear not though Liverpool fans, you've got that superstar striker who cost you £35m and has scored 2 or 3 league goals since he arrived. Don't worry! LOL.

Liverpool have reacted with fury to the decision to hit striker Luis Suarez with an eight-match ban for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

 

The Uruguay international will remain available to the Anfield outfit as they consider an appeal against the verdict, or until the outcome of any further hearing.

 

Given the wording of the statement issued by the Merseyside outfit to the judgement of the FA's Independent Regulatory Commission, it appears almost certain that they will not be accepting the verdict.

 

The Reds continue to offer the former Ajax forward their full and unequivocal support, while also unleashing an unprecedented attack on English football's governing body.

 

Liverpool have claimed that the FA were 'determined to bring charges' against the forward and feel it is 'extraordinary' that Suarez was found guilty on Evra's evidence alone.
