And the Blue Knights are back - maybe

According to the Scottish Sun (who give Miller some naughty and unsubstantiated flak along the way) ...

Blue Knights in eleventh hour bid

THE Blue Knights last night launched a dramatic eleventh-hour bid to save Rangers from liquidation.

Crunch talks between former director Paul Murray and administrators Duff and Phelps will continue today amid fears thatâ??s the doomsday scenario if US tycoon Bill Miller is given preferred bidder status on Monday.

Bill Ng and his Singapore-based consortium are now out of the running.

The Blue Knights are ready to fork out almost £500,000 to gain a period of exclusivity. That would allow the Knights to speak directly to McCoistâ??s big-name stars and get them to buy into their vision.

Seven players have â??get-outâ? clauses in their deals which would see them able to leave the club for a relative pittance.

Murray wants the chance to talk to the stars concerned and convince them to tear up the clauses and commit long-term.

Sources close to the Knights last night claimed theyâ??ve been told key players will walk away if Miller liquidates.

And they fear Gers will DIE unless administrator Paul Clark rubber-stamps their bid for the club over the weekend.

The most dramatic day since Rangers were plunged into administration back in February started with brassed-off Ng saying his consortium were pulling out.

Miller issued details of his £11.2million bid which would create what he described as an â??incubatorâ? company.

The Blue Knights are suspicious of that plan and they have now launched a last-ditch effort to win coveted preferred bidder status and work towards a CVA with creditors.

Ticketus, the largest of those creditors, have re-opened talks with the Knights after failing to broker a deal with Ng.

Itâ??s believed they will agree a deal in principle with the Knights to repay £10million over nine years â?? with a payment holiday in the first two years.

One stumbling block remains how the Blue Knights would get their hands on Craig Whyteâ??s 85.3 per cent controlling stake.

But Murray and his backers felt they had no option but to re-enter the race.

A source close to the Blue Knights told SunSport: â??The Knights have been in talks with Clark and will speak again over the weekend.

â??They thought they were close to a deal on Friday night.

â??There will be no problem paying the non-refundable deposit on Monday.

â??Paul Clark is saying they want an unconditional offer but how can anyone bid unconditionally when they donâ??t have Whyteâ??s shares? If the administrators tell the Knights his shares are there, the deposit will be there five minutes later.â?

So essentially they are back in the running ... IF the admins can deal with Whyte and/or have his shares handy.
