Rangers Q&A: newco player contract transfers

Recommended Posts

I don't see either the players or the clubs who've signed them offering to pay us a fee if the players were legally within their rights to not transfer to the newco and leave for free. It would be a nice gesture, but I can't see it happening unfortunately.

Players jumping on the opportunity to leave out of self interest doesn't take away from the fact that Green appears to have provided them with a cast iron legal case to jump ship by transferring their contracts without proper consultation.

The players may well have left either way, but I can't help wondering why Green didn't properly consult them and give them the opportunity to stay if we're playing in the 1st division in the coming season or leave if we're playing in the 3rd.

TBH I don't care about the legalities much, main thing is they showed themselves up.

It's the honorable thing to do. To EPL clubs, the money involved is pocket change.

Coventry came to an agreement with the club for Fleck despite the fact that they're not rolling in money. Of course in that instance (and indeed the the same would apply to the likes of Ness and McCabe) we developed the player and TUPE issues asside, could argue that we were due compensation.
