Wimbledon and MK Dons in potential FA Cup clash

Recommended Posts

MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon will set up a mouthwatering clash if they can beat Cambridge and York in their respective first-round replays.

It would be the first time the clubs will have met in since MK Dons were created in 2004 - nine months after Wimbledon FC's controversial relocation to Milton Keynes in 2003 and its subsequent administration and renaming.

The Wimbledon supporters who strongly opposed this move reacted by founding their own club, AFC Wimbledon.

A large majority of Wimbledon fans felt that the original club no longer represented Wimbledon's legacy and traditions, and thus withdrew their support, choosing instead to start a new so-called "phoenix club" from scratch.

This game is on Sunday, quite intriging. Some Wimbledon fans want to boycott the ground to not give MK a penny but in a cup game they will receive some of the gate so surely they would take a big crowd.

Calscot, are you going along to this?
