Green's New Year Message

Recommended Posts

ON behalf of everyone at Rangers, I would like to wish our supporters a very happy and prosperous New Year.

Iâ??m very proud of the fact that every member of the Rangers family can look ahead to 2013 and beyond with confidence and firm belief that this great football club is well on the road to recovery.

What a difference a year makes. No-one could have asked more of the manager, his staff and the players, who have put the team in an excellent position as leaders of Division Three and everyone will wish Ally McCoist all the very best as he continues to develop his young team.

Off the pitch, we continue to strive to maximise revenue streams for the club now and in the future to build on the success of the stock market flotation in December.

This work will be continuous and no effort will be spared in ensuring that Rangers has the best possible commercial and financial platform.

We can, however, achieve nothing without the clubâ??s supporters. The debt of gratitude the club owes to you, the supporters, can never be fully repaid because the stark truth is that had it not been for the actions of fans in the last 12 months, Rangers would be in ruins.

Instead, every Rangers fan stepped up and the result is that we can all focus on rebuilding the club and taking it back to where it belongs.

We will be patient on that journey and I am proud of the part we are playing in the Scottish Football League.

We have been made extremely welcome by every club in our division and I think I speak for all Rangers fans in saying we are pleased to contribute to the prosperity of other clubs.

Our visit to Queenâ??s Park last Saturday was the most striking example of this and it was a delight to share a great sporting afternoon with our counterparts there. The oldest derby in football couldnâ??t have been much more dramatic.

Tomorrow morning before we head off to Annan, representatives of The club and supporters will pay our respects to the victims of the Ibrox disasters in a simple but poignant ceremony at Ibrox.

In many ways, to someone new to the club, such moments are humbling reminders of how much this club means to people and how much Rangers people mean to the club.

It is a privilege to be involved with Rangers and all of us - supporters, players and staff alike â?? can begin 2013 in the knowledge that the future holds great promise and we will take pride in showing that Rangers is a force for good in football.

Happy New Year,

Charles Green, Chief Executive
