New rangers bombshell - Mum's the word

Recommended Posts

RANGERS chief Charles Greenâ??s trusted moneyman secretly texted ex-Ibrox owner Craig Whyte last summer to request funds for the clubâ??s takeover, it was claimed last night.

Imran Ahmad asked the shamed tycoon for a payment of £137,500 to push the deal through during an chummy SMS exchange in May 2012.

In one text sent at the height of the Gers takeover saga, Ahmad calls him â??mateâ? before apparently asking for the money to be transferred to his MUMâ??S account.

Whyte, 42, claims he has phone messages confirming the transaction â?? and Ahmadâ??s motherâ??s bank details.

Last night one source said: â??If this is true it just gets murkier and murkier.â?

The latest revelations appear to show a cosy relationship between Greenâ??s team and Whyte as the Yorkshire businessman tried to buy stricken Rangers last summer.

One text from Ahmad appears to suggest he was waiting for the deposit â?? to help fund an exclusivity payment guaranteeing Green as administrator Duff and Phelpsâ?? preferred bidder for the club.

It reads: â??Nothing received this morning mate.â?

And a message dated May 12 from Ahmad to Whyte shows what is said to be the bank details of the powerbrokerâ??s mother.

Itâ??s followed by a further text four days later which says: â??£137.5 received with thanks.â?

A Letter before Claim legal document sent by Whyte to Green and the England-based financier reads: â??Craig Whyte is in possession of a text from Imran Ahmad dated 12th May, 2012, providing the bank account details of Imran Ahmadâ??s mother.â?

Another passage in the papers â?? which set out the Monaco-based businessmanâ??s latest allegations â?? states: â??Craig Whyte is in possession of a text from Imran Ahmad dated 16th May, 2012, confirming receipt of the £137.5K.â?

Last night Rangers confirmed the cash WAS paid into Ahmadâ??s motherâ??s account â?? so Greenâ??s consortium could shield their dealings with Whyte as they attempted to keep him onside while they tried to buy his shares.

A club spokesman said: â??Imran Ahmad paid the £200,000 exclusivity fee himself. This amount was paid well in advance of any money ever appearing from Craig Whyte.

â??The £137,500 dropped into the account of Mr Ahmadâ??s mother because no one involved in the takeover wanted any of the disgraced former ownerâ??s money to go near the business account. He could never again be involved or associated with the club.â?

The spokesman said Whyteâ??s payment was made at a time when Rangers could have been saved from liquidation by a CVA agreement â?? meaning Green would have needed Whyteâ??s shares to buy the club.

He added: â??As soon as the company went into liquidation the position changed.

â??Shares were no longer required and all communication with Mr Whyte ceased.

â??Attempts have been made to return this money but Mr Whyte refuses to accept it back and records will show it has never been touched or used.â?

Green, told The Scottish Sun exclusively on Friday that he SHAFTED his rival to pull off the buyout â?? claiming he lied to him to save Rangers from the man who plunged them into administration.

The claims came as it emerged Whyte plans a sensational legal bid to wrest control of the club from its current owner. Green rejects Whyteâ??s claims that he was behind Sevco 5088 â?? the company that bought Rangers for £5.5million last June.

The tough-talking Yorkshireman furiously denies Whyte has anything to do with Rangers and has branded him â??delusionalâ?.

Director ... Ahmad

The spokesman said Whyteâ??s payment was made at a time when Rangers could have been saved from liquidation by a CVA agreement â?? meaning Green would have needed Whyteâ??s shares to buy the club.

CHARLES GREEN

Green ... spoke exclusively to The Scottish Sun

But we revealed secret recordings made by Whyte as he discussed the takeover deal with Ibrox chiefs â?? including Green, who is heard on one tape telling Whyte: â??You are Sevco, thatâ??s what we are saying.â? On Friday Green accepted Whyte had made the £137,500 payment.

But he went on to call the Motherwell-born tycoon â??google-eyeâ?? in a furious TV rant that evening.

He told Sky Sports News presenter Jim White: â??He said he wanted to invest and Imran said â??okay, we need to come up with something like £6million eachâ?.

â??There was never any possibility of him coming up with that kind of money.

â??However just over £137,000 was deposited later â?? we were stunned and have tried to give it back.â? Last night a source close to Whyte claimed he had never declined the dosh â?? because Green has NEVER tried to give it back to him.

The insider said: â??Whyte denies he has been offered his money. Why would he not take it back?

â??If he was not involved, why are they now admitting they accepted his cash but didnâ??t spend it?

â??Whyte was not there to pump millions in but to deliver the club to Sevco 5088.â?

â??If these texts are true why are Green and Ahmad saying they donâ??t know Whyte? It is causing more questions than answers.â? It came as Rangers legend John Brown last night warned fans should brace themselves for MORE details to emerge of the deal struck by Green and Whyte.

Dundee boss Brown, 51 â?? who fronted a fan-backed bid to buy the club â?? said this weekâ??s revelations proved his concerns over the Ibrox regime were well-founded.

He added: â??What I did last summer was because of what I knew and that will now all unfold.â?

Whyteâ??s legal team are understood to be preparing a High Court writ to serve on the Gers powerbrokers. He will argue the transfer to Green of £50million of assets was illegal. He will demand the assets are returned to Sevco 5088, which could theoretically see him win back the keys to Ibrox.

We revealed yesterday how the bombshell news of Greenâ??s â??dealâ?? with Whyte led Gers boss Ally McCoist to demand a showdown talks with the Ibrox CEO to reassure worried fans.

He said: â??Just when they seem to be getting a bit of clarity, something else comes out of leftfield.

â??I would be very hopeful that our supporters get the answers they deserve.â?

Ahmad wouldnâ??t comment last night.

CRAIG Whyte last night laughed off Charles Greenâ??s â??google-eyeâ? jibe.

Green, 59, had mocked the hated former Ibrox owner in a live telly interview â?? but pals close to Whyte said he had ignored the comment.

A source said: â??He has taken it with a pinch if salt. Whyte has always laughed about how he doesnâ??t come across well on TV or photographs. However, he thinks it is sad Green is now resorting to personal insults. Green is just pandering to fans.â? Green said of Whyte on Sky Sports News: â??Rangers and its fans deserve better than that little google-eye.â?

Meanwhile, cheeky supporters took the mickey by creating a fake Google web page with the former Gers chairman.

CHARLES Green last night vowed heâ??d stand at the GATES of Ibrox to stop a Craig Whyte comeback.

The Gers chief made the promise as he united with manager Ally McCoist to slam the Monaco-based businessman.

He said: â??No part of Rangers FC or its assets will ever fall into Whyteâ??s hands.

â??If I have to I will stand at the front door and deny him entry.â?

He added: â??The one thing that matters most is the rebuilding of this club. I am committed to that, as is Ally.

â??Ally knows and accepts that I cannot be held responsible for Whyteâ??s ramblings or his ridiculous claims.

â??But Ally is a fan and he would have been alarmed at the re-emergence of Whyte.

McCoist said: â??It would be devastating to have Whyte anywhere near the club he almost destroyed.â?
