Sir David Murray did many good things for Rangers. He brought to Ibrox some wonderful players and it was just thrilling to watch them play. However, his egotism allowed him to reach out for what was probably unachievable and as a result he created a mess by running up a level of debt that was unsustainable. We all know what happened. SDM grew tired of Rangers and took a terrible risk by selling the club to Craig Whyte.

It didn't take too long for CW to expose his egotism. Although he had only been around for a short time, he swaggered out before the season opener against Hearts, to unfurl the championship flag. However, the main problem was that his ego persuaded him to believe that he could do whatever he liked and took the club to the brink of ruination.

Charles Green came on to the scene. He was prepared to put down money when others shied away. He stood up for our club against people who did everything they could to shaft us and his contribution to the share issue was magnificent. However, CG seems to have an ego problem. Being the CEO of Glasgow Rangers has given him the platform to be in the limelight and he clearly enjoys the sound of his own voice. However, what he says is not always wise or helpful.

If egotism is a common factor in the make-up of SDM, CW and CG, there is also a definite distiction. SDM and CW owned the club but that is not the case with CG. He was applauded for saying that no one person would ever own more than 20% of the shares and that is what distinguishes him from the previous two owners. CG owns 8% of the club shares, so it follows that the other 92% are held by others.

Our board of directors are there to represent the best interests of all shareholders and perhaps the time has now come for them to consider whether CG is the best man to continue to hold the office of CEO. If he were to be displaced, it is certain that CG would react badly and this could lead to further damaging revelations emerging. However, sometimes it is better to take the pain in the short term to bring about an improved long term situation.

On our board are people such as, Walter Smith, Ian Hart and Malcolm Murray, who may well share the misgivings of others who are Rangers people, over some of the things that CG says and does.

For many of us, Glasgow Rangers has been a major part of our lives. The past 15 months or so, have been just dreadful. We wonder what we are going to awake to, day after day. It won't be easy for them to control CG and the time may have come to invite CG to step aside.

Big characters big ego's, however this egotism can be channelled in the right direction. Charles imo is at his best when he's ripping into our enemies and winding them up. But he needs to tone down the bullshite and flights of fantasies. Maybe he needs some more media coaching from Traynor before letting him loose again?
