Fan unity, vigilance and the future

I'd suggest that a board of 7 would not be sufficient if they are looking to have 50,000 members. There will be a lot of areas to cover and a lot of work for those involved.

Looking at the make up of the RF board, there's a few on there who look like they'd be happy attending board meetings but not spending all day Sunday working on some small project that involved a lot of minutia, or willing to get up and visit a RSC on a Saturday morning to explain the benefits of the organisation.

I find it strange that they have decided that 50% of available donations going forward will not be used for the purchase of shares, and they are not leaving that for the members to vote on it.

It's also not great that they have not fixed term limits for the directors.

Seven does seem very tight but I guess it means if you stand and are elected you'll have to earn your position. IIRC they're taking on paid admin staff to deal with some of the more mundane tasks.

Personally I quite like the idea of having flexibility for donation use - especially if the members get to decide what projects can be suggested and voted upon.

I'd agree directors should have fixed terms but, as you know, it's sometimes easier said than done to attract people to voluntary (and often thankless) roles so it might be a case of not wanting to cut our nose off to spite our face there. At the end of the day people can always be voted off.

My point is that it should be the members that decide the split and not the "old" organisations.

My own view is that I'd like to see the fans with a higher % of shares and would like the maximum put into this until the influence of Ashley and the Easdales is minimised.

We can always increase the Projects % later.

That's easier said than done as you know,
