Was just about to say the same, although I think his good patch of form was restricted to half a season, not a whole season, which coincided with new contract negotiations.

 

He had the one brilliant season when he played in midfield and was getting rave reviews as the captain of the team. Was he not sold the season after, when he fell out with Advocaat? (Or is that just my memory going?)

He was sold by PLG - he got drunk on the plane going to a pre-season tour and promptly was told to catch the next flight back home.
