Ha, just what i was thinking, he had a good swally there and back, remember no motorways back then so the trip may have taken a full day.

And buses chugging along at 40 mph. Special trains the better option but they were always sidelined to let scheduled services through. So, yes, likely a full day there and back.

 

The team he saw on 3rd April1948: Brown, Young, Shaw, McColl, Woodburn, Cox,Waddell, Gillick, Thornton, Duncanson, Rutherford.

 

These diddies could only manage a draw, 1-1, with Duncanson equalising in the 69th minute.

Days like them is when a time machine would be real handy, can you imagine going back to when the 4 lads first got together and laid out their plans for a football team?
