For some reason I feel slightly uneasy about this. Perhaps it's because football songs and chants belong in the stands and pubs, not in a book. They're fluid and often irreverent, open to spontaneous change. They seldom stand still and several versions can exist. More than anything else, they're aural rather than visual. Once you put them in a book you cast them in someone's idea of what they should be and it's almost never what you'll hear where fans gather.

Good work but with all my respect, 40 songs are not enough to create a songbook. In the released Rangers FC Song Book there are 225 songs.

... fair enough. You will note the absence of all the (tons of) Loyalist and "banter" songs (Nakamura ate my dog; Jorge Cadette, he's got hair like spagetti et al), as well as those with no "direct" connection to Rangers, e.g. Penny Arcade, Simply the Best and the like. ? And methinks it depends of the intent of the book, rather than how many songs are in there. The above of mine was collected with purely football related songs in mind.

What are the lyrics of "We went to Wolverhampton"?

It was sung on our bus for years before the resurrection of "Wolverhampton Town" but I now can't remember it as "Wolverhampton Town"  comes to into my head whenever I try and recall it.

That's the one I found ...

We went to Wolverhampton

We went to Wolverhampton, not so very long ago
And to the local Englishmen, we did put on a show.
We marched along 10,000 strong, you'll know us by our noise,
For we're the lads, the lads who follow Rangers.

So on Rangers on, victory is nigh.
From the terraces you will hear the cry.
’Come away the Rangers!’, you'll know us by our noise,
For we're the lads, the lads who follow Rangers.
