Photo project on Scottish identity - looking for Rangers Fans!

Recommended Posts

Greetings all - I'm an American Master's student at the Glasgow School of Art and I'm currently developing a long-form photo documentary project on Scottish identity, primarily probing how people relate to the cultural concept of 'Scottishness' and how it informs their identity. Obviously, I couldn't get a comprehensive read on Scotland without taking into consideration its most fundamental pastime and how that informs the cultural outlook of so many in Glasgow and beyond. This isn't meant to be a provocation or a jumping off point to address anything political (although if you feel like talking about this, i'd be more than happy to let you speak your mind), but rather a chance to talk about how personal ties to a football club have informed who people are. Conversations would consist of a short interview followed by a photo portrait. I wouldn't have anything to offer in the way of monetary compensation, but this is an entirely collaborative process - so I'd be more than happy to give you a say in the work and to offer back prints and photographs.

On a more serious note! Being British and a Rangers fan is like not having Iron-Bru at least 5 times a week , its synonymous  with Scottishness and our culture, it is football or nothing, Rangers to myself is a community all fighting for one cause and that's to see us win every game , plus it gives us Grumpy Scottish people something to moan at every Saturday/Game night. Or as the great Walter Smith once said “ There are people Whom Rangers is their entire way of life” or legendary Bill struth said
"To be a Ranger is to sense the sacred trust of upholding all that such a name means in this shrine of football. They must be true in their conception of what the Ibrox tradition seeks from them. No true Ranger has ever failed in the tradition set him."

I'm sure many other teams in Scotland would say similar things but to me the Rangers  way is the only way for me and I'll be a Ranger Till I Die!
