  1. Mental to have paid out decent cash to sign the guy to a three and a half year deal, if he's just a handler for one specific player. Bad decision. Good he's gone.
  2. Weird decision hiring the guy. Pretty pointless in truth.
  3. New owners won't have any sentimental issues, if you're getting offered a good deal, you take it.
  4. Don't see this myself tbh, surely looking at better.
  5. Nothing to do with Rangers though, not exactly Rangers chat 😂
  6. England are now losing to Senegal.
  7. So Paul Murray was out trying to flog the club. Remember a couple years back the American Hedgefund etc that wanted involved, Rangers shut the rumours rapid, saying it was all nonsense. Meanwhile the press were saying Murray had a task to find a buyer for Rangers. Seems they were right, and Rangers kept everyone in the dark, cause it was very fucking bleak.
  8. Everton just released 17 players. Wonder if Thelwell and Purdy have ear to the ground on any of them.
  9. I asked a question and posted the response 🤷🏻‍♂️ Do you read before you post or what? 😂 Or what other people post for that matter!? I've said multiple times, that Tavernier's personal accolades while good, I'd trade all of it for Rangers success, I'd trade it all for a striker that can score goals consistently and a defender that can defend... You're acting like I'm out to get Tav when you've got the same opinion as me, you've said as such - he's on the decline, he'd be better on the bench, and likely shouldn't continue as captain. To say he is a reminder or symbolic of an era of failure isn't untrue, it's simply facts, if you want to argue, go to the trophy room have a wee look around. See if we've fired up all those second places 🙄 I'm of an era where Rangers teams won everything and had higher standards. First is everything, second is nothing. -Walter Smith.
  10. Well no, not really. This thread is about Russell Martin, we've derailed it abit. Would be monstrously stupid to call the thread on that 🤔
  11. A Rangers supporter that watches us all the time never seeing Tav play. Trolling attempts could be better, 4/10.
  12. I gave ChatGPT that list and said who do you think had the easiest time scoring goals from RB. From the list of the 10 highest-scoring defenders in football history, James Tavernier likely had the easiest time scoring goals from the right-back (RB) position. Why James Tavernier? Primarily Tavernier has taken all penalties and set pieces for Rangers FC, as well as actually consistently playing the position of RB over others on this list. For example, Ronald Koeman (Barcelona) played large portions of his career at right-midfield (RM) as well as others like Roberto Carlos (Real Madrid) who played several times throughout his career at right-mid, and Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) who scored a lot of his goals from centre-back (CB). The level of competition throughout a changing football landscape should also be considered: Level of Competition Faced: Players like Koeman, Ramos, Hierro, Blanc, Roberto Carlos, and Breitner played in La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 widely considered among the most competitive leagues in the world, both historically and presently. These leagues regularly feature elite attackers, tactically sophisticated teams, and high-pressure matches. European & International Competitions: Most of these defenders consistently played Champions League, World Cups, and continental tournaments (Euro, Copa América), facing top-tier opposition. James Tavernier’s Environment: Scottish Premiership: Tavernier plays for Rangers FC, a dominant club in the Scottish Premiership, which is not on par with the top 5 European leagues in terms of defensive organization, pace, or overall talent. Rangers often dominate possession in domestic matches, giving Tavernier many chances to push forward. Role and Freedom: At Rangers, Tavernier has a very attacking-oriented role, with lots of license to bomb forward, take penalties, and be involved in set pieces—opportunities that would be far more limited in elite European teams. Final Assessment: James Tavernier is a phenomenal goal-scoring right-back, but his statistics have been boosted by playing in a less competitive league where his team dominates most matches. In contrast, other defenders on this list scored in tougher environments, often against higher-quality opposition. That doesn't diminish Tavernier’s achievement it just adds important context.
  13. Again, I don't give a damn about his personal accolades, but if you want to harp on about how many goals he has, bear in mind that we also include goals from the lower leagues in that total. Not sure many of the highest scoring best defenders in the world did that 🙄 I've also no hatred for him - you're right it's pointless continuing this debate because with all due respect, you keep on making up shite in your head - and I've never said that he is the sole reason for all of our failures. Said numerous times throughout the thread, he has contributed to that failure, and in my opinion been a poor captain and shouldn't continue as such and perhaps be a bench player going forward. The ideal scenario would be he left/is sold. Doesn't mean I hate him.
  14. He absolutely is. He's been a huge contributor to what? Our second place runs? Runners up medals? The odd majority trophy here and there? We never signed anyone too dislodge him. The reason he has been automatic starter is because he was given the captaincy and no one took it off of him.. This revisionism is shite, Tavs time at Rangers, for the club, hasn't returned any trophies. In future when we look back at his time and see three trophies next to his name, I wonder if next generations will be in awe, or not bother at all.
  15. If you agree he should be on the bench and shouldn't be captain, why are you trying to argue with me for making the point that he is symbolic of an era of failure and shouldn't be captain going forward? Should be a fresh start and with Tavernier on the decline, I don't think he should be captain or have any influence on how Russell Martin should act, or for guidance etc. Clean slate, thanks Tav but no thanks.
  16. Again, it is a combination, stop trying to streamline my thoughts on Tavernier as if in making out it's just him, it's not the case. But you're making out like he's a golden boy that has done nothing at all wrong throughout his time here. Yes absolutely there have been poor players that we shouldn't have signed in the first place, however over the years Tavernier has become increasingly poor and his weak mindset is not befitting of a Rangers captain. Both these things can be true.
  17. Strong mindset is a key part of leadership. The ability to exude confidence and lift everyone around you, you're not getting that from the guy that admits he can't handle pressure well. That mentality rubs off, if your captain/leader/boss is shitting themselves when the pressure is on, why would you be confident? This notion that a captain can't do much is a cop out and excuse for a poor captain.
  18. I find Tav tiresome. And it'd be refreshing to see him go.
  19. Some amount of reaching to try and give excuses for him mate. He assessed himself as part of that squad 😂🫠
