Imagine if men had periods
Quite so, CS; yours is the kind of wisdom I admire.

All of it....All of it....
Why did I know you would say that (twice) rather than answer the points I made.
That's exactly the sort of response that you are wont to criticise others for making.
However, I give in; you're right, as always.

Good grief. Grow up man. You are acting like a bloody child.
Not that anyone actually cares that much but, as a point of clarity, I am completely ambivalent as to the date that is selected via a poll. Indeed, I actually suggested in one of my posts that selecting the OF game was risky given some of the antics that are sometimes observed after these games.
So if your "Let Craig name the day" is some kind of accusation that I am trying to manipulate the voting then you couldn't be further from the truth, other than in your own mind.
In fact, the major reason for me attending ANY Gersnet function would be to put faces to forum names and socialise with those same people and getting to know them a little better. I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting Frankie, Bluedell, Ian, johnnyk for a few beverages and had a more than pleasant chat with forlanssister at Ibrox during a game. I don't need a Gersnet function for that - I can do it whenever I am home and get to a game.
There are a number of other forum members that I hope to have the pleasure of meeting - whether it be outside Ibrox for a quick chat, at the Louden for a couple of pints (Frankie, Ian & others..... 1st home game against the Hibbees ?? - Gribz, are you back home for this ?) or at a Gersnet "Official" dinner - it matters not to me when or indeed where you have the Gersnet function - I will find a way to meet those forum members who have an inkling to meet me and get to know me.
But to suggest that I am trying to manipulate the poll is absolutely ludicrous. Worse, you made that over-reaching accusation as a result of me simply saying, in a jovial manner, "I am not offended that the date I chose is the least popular :D". Quite the reach, even for you BH.
"A bloody child" that needs to "get a grip"; fair enough.
I don't believe for one moment that you set out with the intention of influencing the result of the poll; but what I do believe is that your jovial comment may well have had that effect and for that reason it was wrong. If you can't or wont accept that then also fair enough.
With an hour to the declaration of the result that according to you "(no one) actually cares that much (about)" I'll leave it at that.

Sorry massa
You mean Massa Craig, I assume, boy.

I just wonder if when doing a ballot Brahim has warm balls?
One thing is for sure, Pete, there's no chance of you finding out.

maybe there are some among us who have a wide experience of secret ballots
maybe secret ballots have served them well in the past
just sayin'
You'll need to enlighten me when next we meet, CS.

Certainly would be a entertaining dinner if all on this thread attended
I think most will do.
It's always entertaining and you would be more than welcome as I believe I've said in the past.

Or we can just have a poll and no rules.
Or you can run the next one; or apply to be Craig's assistant.

now now Brahim
secret ballots......such intrigue........
Just trying to protect the innocent and the integrity of the poll; obviously I've failed miserably on both counts.

I don't see the issue with people knowing the results of the poll before they vote. It's hardly the KGB attempting to influence a Trump victory.
We go with the winning date. We go with the Italian (or poll the venue if you must). We get an ex-player or two to speak. We have fun. Simples...
In the meantime let's not fall out over a wee get together.
Clearly we see things differently from the point of view of the poll; otherwise, I'm in complete agreement.

You need to find some sense of perspective. You are being ridiculous.
Clearly we have an entirely different sense of perspective.
I'm not clear which part of my response was "ridiculous" but I'm eager to learn.

Im left wondering how many rounds of voting and hustings the ham went through to win a place amongst sunday lunch at brahims house.
It's called democracy, GS; but that's fine we can do away with polls in future and just let Craig name the day.

I'm not complaining I'm laughing at your inability to understand how a public poll on a bulletin board works especially given you previous experience with public polls on bulletin boards.
Then you can carry on laughing at my expense.
I thought, obviously wrongly, that the inertia position would be that it was a secret ballot unless I made it otherwise.

I'm left wondering what the difference between an official Gersnet dinner and an unofficial one is.
IIRC you declared the last one to be "unofficial" because of the low numbers that led to cancellation of the speaker; personally I take the view that any dinner organised in the name of Gersnet is an "official Gersnet Dinner".

LOL....Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
I didn't notice you complaining about the arrangements for the four dinners you've attended in the past.

For goodness sake BH, it is hardly the organization of a bloody official RFC event or anything that needs be clouded in secrecy. It's a bloody dinner FFS - people shouldn't reveal how the votes stand, get a grip FFS.
It's an official Gersnet Dinner, Craig and correct you shouldn't have revealed how the votes stood.
Far from being clouded in secrecy I am at great pains to spell everything out in terms of alternative dates, venues etc and this thread has had more than 1,100 views.
People can obviously reveal how they voted if they chose to do so; but revealing how the poll stands is unfair because it could influence the result. I think that's obvious and I guess that's why the current standing of the poll is not on view to people before they vote.
I see no point in running a poll unless it's run properly, whether it's for the date of "a bloody dinner FFS" or whatever.
In future we can dispense with a poll altogether and I'll decide the date; better still you can run the next one and you can arrange it when it suits you.
In fact why not cancel the poll altogether then you can have this one after the Celtic game.
Meantime, I've run five pretty successful dinners to date and when I want your advice about how to do better, I'll be sure to ask.
I put a lot of time and effort into running these dinners and I don't appreciate you belittling the event or telling me to "get a grip FFS". I'm perfectly calm and in complete control of my emotions, thank you very much.

I'm another one who can probably make all three dates but plumped for Killie on the 17th March. The OF game is usually a full days of activity so the next week sounds good to me. If no one minds I'll bring along a mate who's just taken the plunge on a season ticket after many years in the cold.
We have always allowed guests, space permitting.
Your good lady will be more than welcome as well.
Look forward to seeing you again.

Got your text. I voted for the Dundee game but could make all three.
Thanks for voting, PLG. See you there.

I have sent out a number of texts and PM's to folk who have attended in the past but not so far posted on this thread.
So far as I am aware, therefore, everyone who has attended in the past should now be aware of the poll for the date of the next dinner.

I'm not offended that the only date I can make is the least popularI wasn't aware that people could see the current state of the poll until they have voted and in all fairness I don't think those who have voted should reveal how things stand.
However since there has been comment; in the event of a tie are folk happy that I make the final decision?

Is it not tomorrow night?Yes the poll date changed when I put it back up.
OK that's noted thanks.

Another reminder that the polls close at 11 22pm tonight.

Well considering he recently spoke at the nauseating Lisbon (well, about 40 miles away) Lions event he can be struck off the list.
I'll scrub him for the Gersnet dinner then thanks.

He played 90 minutes of every game in the UEFA Cup on the road to the final in 2008, so arguably he was a mainstay of the team even if he didn't get the same notice as the likes of Davis, Cuellar, Weir, Hemdani, Ferguson etc.

Rangers v St Johnstone friendly - 3pm today

I would take Kranjcar over PC any day of the week.
Kranjcar worked his socks off for the full 90 minutes in Luxembourg but the formation and the players around weren't on the same wavelength. He looked distraught at the end, which is more than can be said for some of the others.
If he thinks it's all going pear shaped then we are in BIG trouble.
Kranjcar has the credentials which PC does not.
