  1. Having world beaters like Laudrup and Gascoigne was the entertaining time for Walter because they were a joy to watch but as soon as we came up against half decent European opposition we were bereft of any thought and got found out. But he deserves credit for bringing them to Ibrox. The game in the early to mid 90s was very different so criticism of Walter then is harsh, but 2nd time around he may have steadied a ship and had that euro run but the football wasn't great on the eye. I still wish we just went for it in Manchester and lost 3 or 4 nil rather than sit back and have no chances in that final. If we did play at a high pace tempo I believe we would have won.

Gazza and Laudrup are my 2 personal all time greats and I cant split them, but neither featured in Advocaats team which would have played Walters team off the park. Advocaat's side in his first 2 seasons were very near to something special. They were too good on the eye at one stage. But importantly - they competed in Europe.

Always thought that if Mols had stayed fit or we had another top striker, this was our best chance of doing something in the modern CL. Not many teams would have wanted us in the knockout section I'm sure. Advocaats tenure is still my favourite time as a Gers fan tbh. It was last time I got excited watching us play.

  2. I think we can expect some serious cost cutting measures and not before time perhaps.

However it's hard to see how he can save money on players wages unless we can ship some out on loan; can't see the likes of Cribari, Smith, Shiels etc attracting much transfer interest. Templeton possibly, but more likely a loan candidate as well.

Agreed. I would go as far to say that cost cutting would be essential regardless of the AGM vote and the make up of the board. To add makeshift players like Foster and Smith to our current wage bill was utterly baffling and should have been more scrutinized at the time

  3. I'm not trolling, Rangers have a large loyalist fanbase, I know it, you know it, everyone on here knows it.

Anyway I'm off, if I wanted to spend time with Rangers haters I'd go on talkcelticc or KDS, not a so called Rangers forum.

    Up the volunteers.

Can we please this nonsense out of Gersnet please

  4. Name one anti catholic Rangers song? Really doubt my boss would mind if I'm being honest.

What's controversial about singing the same songs as thousands of like minded people around me?

What's tragic is that we have fans like you in our great protestant loyalist support. There's plenty of other clubs to follow since you hate Rangers fans with a passion.

Can you define Protestant in that sentence please

  5. Of course the Nuo Camp is a 'new' stadium as the name suggests, Barcelona only moved their in the late 1950s after several decades at Les Corts. The modernising of a ground is something all clubs need to do, whether it can be done without a move isn't important from a historical perspective. I really like what Atletic Bilbao have done with their ground. San Mames holds a significant place in Basque culture and and so a move was controversial, so they moved 'outside' keeping one side of the old stadium in the new one.

Without looking it up which British club do you think Barcelona got to play their inaugural match against to open Les Corts in the 1920s?

St. Mirren. My mates a buddy and always bangs on about this!

  6. Camp Nou is a f*&king dump,

I wouldnt go as far as to say it's a dump but it's not a great "football" stadium IMO. I've been to the Camp Nou and the Bernabeu and the later wins hands down for atmosphere.

Incase anyone is interested... Foster Partners have been working on proposals for a revamp of the Camp Nou for years. Not sure what happened? Think they ran out of dosh?

  7. I don't disagree with a word. From a May, 2011 blog I wrote:

But I maintain it is up to us to get our record squeeky clean, the better to drive home the false and self serving nature of the 'official figures' and especially the groups who use them to their own benefit. Every time a Bear says the word '******' or lets go with an FTP - regardless of how meaningless the expression actually is - it makes it harder to expose reality. Us acting alone may not solve the issue entirely, but it would expose it to the cold light of day, where I feel it must be ridiculed as the bullshit that it is.

I think we're getting there, but let ourselves down every so often. With the prize of exposing sectarianism as a myth, why we do this is beyond me, because we can all agree that when people talk about sectarianism in Scotland they're really having a go at Rangers fans.

Did Peter Lawwell actually say that? FFS. This guy is a friggin meglomaniac

  8. To think that this is where the opening ceremony for the 2014 Commonwealth games is to be held.

Probably the first Commonwealth Games were the opening ceremony is being held in a different stadium from main athletics arena? Plenty of crow bars up at GCC hq I presume?

  9. What are the Green Brigade? A psuedo political group or Celtic fans? I'm all for freedom of speech and all that entails but with any freedom always comes responsibility. If they have points to raise, by all means do it through the proper channels. Please keep this stuff out of football please. I wonder what your average non-fundemental Celtic fan feels about this?
