its not about opinion, its about facts in black and white. good signings and bad signings, of course they have had a few howlers, every club does, we just have more than most. our two critical levels of debt in the last 10 years is no coincidence. had we been able to work the transfer market, things may never have got so bad. right now we are signing 1 good player for every 2 bad ones, can we afford to keep doing that? of course we cant. we will end up exactly where we have been in the past.

i agree mate, we also have to remember we had a chef/male model negotiating all our contracts as well. our club didnt stand a chance. a chairman too loyal to his managers, a non existant scouting system and a ceo who is more at home in the kitchen. a complete shambles. i remember a documentary about the ajax youth system almost 20 years ago and within their training ground they had a database of every young player on the planet with information on their strengths and weakness's. that was back in the 90's! we have such an amazing platform to be successful but we have never had the brains to actually do it.

the fact remains our record is worse than just about everyone else. it cannot even be argued, the transfer market has been one of the worst aspects of our club business since at least the turn of the millenium.

absolutely craig. making the last 16 is success for clubs like us. they have done it 3 times in the last 5/6 years. nor would i call 3 last 16 runs in 6 years a one off. of course it is diffucult that goes without saying but we havnt exactly went about our business very well in europe craig. i think it definetely deserves its own thread as i can see my facts regarding celtic starting to irk certain people and i dont want to derail this thread. i agree with your last sentence mate and that is why i cannot wait to get back into our top tier, we need back on the european road!

their home eurpean record is phenomenal. how many wins have we had in the last 5 years?

have you seen their home record in europe? they have played every big gun in europe over the last 10 years and only one has left with a victory, out of 3 or 4 attempts as well.

i think celtic have proved we can be competitive in europe, as have other european teams with similar or smaller turnovers than ourselves. we have also, on occassion. we just need to do our jobs right and do them well. for some strange reason, for a club our size we are not geared for competing in europe, merely making up the numbers, that annoys me because i do believe we are better than that mate. i do strongly disagree with the notion that we cannot compete because we play in scotland, i really do. i think it is very defeatest attitude. we should be more confident.
