do we have an up to date ballpark number if we make group stage?

    Going by this website: https://www.football-coefficient.eu/money/#money-club

Getting to group stage = 15.6m Euros

    Each win = 2.8m Euros

    Each Draw = 0.93m

Then you get a certain amount based on your ten year coefficeient ranging from 1.1m Euros to 35m Euros

so Its hard to say what we will get until the teams are finalised.  But as a minimum 16.7m Euros

  2. this is a strange one for me.

Heart says nope we are a Scottish team we should play in Scotland its a crap league but it is what it is. We get are chances at the champions league (hopefully that continues) and Europa League.

Head says only way we will realistically grow and attract best players is to get into a league which has that possibility so moving makes the most sense.  But then does that make me as bad as the clubs that wanted the ESL??

  3. Champions League is a must if we want to avoid further share issues.

Looking at it we got 10m Euros for our Europa League run making groups in Champions League and no wins will get you around 20m Euros.

There is also this ten year coefficient thing i dont really understand that can make a massive difference.

For example Shakhtar got 25m for that alone this year and Middytland (?) got 2m who have a similar rank to us

It's not just the cards. It's the sitters he misses also.  When it seems harder to do just that.

If someone wants to gives us 8 to 10 million.  I think take it and happily so.

I would sell him if someone offered us 8-10 mill early in the window with a chance to replace. If we sell him now that is crazy. We couldnt replace the goals he scores with the current squad.

It would really need to be a crazy bid before we even look at it imo.

  5. Maybe i remember things incorrectly but in the transfer thread everyone was calling him out for leaving now he says he was forced out and we're still not happy. What is it we want exactly?

Personally if what he says is true it does show some issues with the inner workings of the club. Would you not find it odd to be told one day expect a promotion then the next day being told they want you to leave? (i know a regular work setting maybe not the best analogy but still)  I know i would.

  6. Thing is he hasn't looked as good the past few weeks as he did at the start. He seems to miss a boat load of chances for everyone that goes in. Personally i would have taken the 8mil.

We are more light in center forwards than i expected but still if he either doesn't play as regularly or has a poor run in we wont get 8mil for him in the summer. Of course if he starts banging them in again we might get more!

I know i will get abuse for this but reality is we wont win the league this year, second place is what we must get. And 8mil in the bank to spend in the summer would make a huge difference to next years title run.

So is Kal Naismith another player we underestimated, like Fleck? If he’s out of contract in the summer he’s probably a better player to have on the bench than the likes of Kranjcar and Herrera.

Look at the amount of games both him and Fleck played post leaving us allowing them to develop. Nobody would be happy giving a player for us that much time to develop.

Seperate related point but this is what still annoys me greatly about our div 2 back to prem period. This was the time to blood young players but nope we just signed a boat load of mercenaries on stupid money instead.

  8. I have no idea how it works between Queens Park and SFA but is this all a scheme to get a lower rate for using Hampden?

Personally would rather it went to Murrayfield. Better stadium and bigger capacity. But that is completely ignoring all the implications that has been mentioned here.

  9. Not sure they'd make more money at Murrayfield. Especially Scotland home games which don't sell out. And I don't think Murrayfield would come cheap from the SRU.

And don't forget the SFA offices are at Hampden. Where would they move to ?

The prospect of Ibrox being the only suitable football stadium(apart from Hampden) may be too much for some people.

I understand it is costing Hearts £300k a game a lease Murrayfield from the SRU. I am guessing that all other costs still need to go on top of that.

Personally i think Murrayfield is a great stadium, although only ever been for rugby.

  10. What is it fans are expecting from McInnes, if indeed he is appointed? I keep hearing "safe pair of hands", but what is that?

I'm not sure McInnes is the one to close the gap on them. (I might just do a Pete and start calling him a dud now! :D)

Well look at Aberdeens league finishes pre and post McInnes taking over:

    season 9-10 to 12-13 best was 8th

    McInnes took over end of 12-13 then;

    13-14 - 3rd

    14-15, 15-16 and 16-17 - 2nd.

    Thats a bloody good record.

Also 3 cup finals out of a possible 8 is pretty damn good also.

Btw i'm not saying he is the best choice but you cant argue against the guys record in Scotland.

  11. The board took a huge gamble giving Pedro so much money in the summer to spend. And realistically they shouldve gave him longer after that size of an investment.

I am assuming they have the money to let the next manager do the same? Otherwise which manager of real quality is going to want to come in??

  12. possession 58% celtc

18 shots to 6 in favour of celtc

7 shots to 1 on target in favour of celtc

    11 corners to 2

    at home

    that is dreadful

Stats don't tell the whole story.

Did Celtic get the better of the 90 mins possession wise, yes, but anyone who thought they wouldn't isn't facing up to the new reality. With that will come more shots and corners. But we weren't backs to the wall by any stretch. Remember we are playing against a team that has been slowly built up over 4-5 years with big investment and European experience. Despite what the apparent 'experts' keep telling us about how much we spent versus them in the summer... you cant buy that or sort that in a season or two. We just need progress and I can see big progress from last year (comparing OF game to OF game).

We are still really lacking in penetrating defenses but we did have some good chances. A stone wall penalty turned down. The lack of actual left footed full back and midfielder was clearly causing us problems in attack.

  13. Barry is being very selective with his words , the reality was he was offered several contracts and declined them all , he made himself surplus to requirements

does it not depend on what the offers are? We shouldnt judge purely based on the fact offers were made, if they were crap offers, he should reject them. Dont think we could hold that against any player.

  14. Many on here (including you) are judging Dalcio after two games. I'm judging McKay after two seasons and I've yet to see an effective player in him. There's no doubt he had the potential but not the attitude or desire, so I'd much rather take a risk on someone who might be effective (i.e. Dalcio), rather than stick with someone who has proven that he is not.

I just dont get this line of thought at all.... Attitude/work rate is something that can be changed a hell of a lot easier than actual footballing ability. if we are judging McKay on last year then we should be happy to get rid of the lot of them. They were all hopeless. This is a guy we should have fought to keep.

  15. Quite frankly this is a disgrace of a decision.... I know we need to sell players nowadays but this is a guy who with the right team around him would provide that creative spark to create goals. Granted last year was not the best from him but it wasn't for any of them. And for what 500k..... awful. This pisses me off more than the bloody Europa result. Going out of Europa is short term damaging selling our top assets for peanuts is long term detrimental to us. I really hoped now we had a management structure all the way up to the top in place that would compete with that lot but once again its clear we are not even close.

If what is being said about the contracts is true then i guess i would tone my message down a bit but we dont know what the contract offers were. He should be one of the higher earners at the club. So pissed.

  16. Is the general opinion that McKay wont feature?

That would be really disappointing from my POV... genuine talent consigned to the bench which we will probably let go for bugger all money and he turns out to be a real player.

  17. I don't know much about him except he's a defensive mid, haven't seen much of him, does anyone know what he will bring to us, is he a tough tackler?

I asked this exact question to an Aberdeen supporting friend and his comment was for them he is fairly easily replaceable.... so that doesn't bode well. Also mentioned he is always behind the play.

  18. Lifted from FF:

    Takeover panel ruling..

    http://www.investegate.co.uk/takeover-appeal-bd-/rns/rangers-international-football-club-plc/201703131139222798Z

"The Executive also determined that an obligation should be imposed on Mr King to extend a Rule 9 offer to other shareholders in Rangers. It directed him to make an offer in accordance with Rule 9 for all of the issued shares in Rangers not owned by him and Messrs Letham, Taylor and Park. The offer was to be made at the price of 20p per share."

    25.

"On 12 December 2016 Mr King emailed a notice of appeal to the Board stating the grounds on which and basis on which he contested the ruling of the Committee to uphold the Executive.

    26.

The Board, constituted as set out in the Appendix, heard the appeal on 25 January 2017. Mr King did not appear and was not represented. Mr Blair emailed written submissions on behalf of Rangers, but did not attend the hearing. Mr Charles Graham QC presented the case on behalf of the Executive, which also made written submissions on the appeal and in response to the grounds of appeal.

    27.

At the end of the hearing the Board reserved its decision."

I didn't read the whole thing but what i find strange is Dave King's reluctance to make a mandatory offer... Surely he wants to control more shares and i cant imagine a lot of people will sell at 20p a share, so i dont really understand why he appealed twice.

The only things i can think of is that either it costs a decent chunk of money to simply make the offer or unless it is an issue of having the funds available to fund extensive share purchase. If my maths is correct if all the shareholders decided to sell outside of the 35% him and Letham, Park etc control (which i guess is extremely unlikely) it would cost him approx £11m?

  19. I was gutted yesterday. It wasn't because we lost (afterall we've suffered that a few times this season), but it was more the way we appear to have thrown the possession system out of the window within a week of MW leaving......

I dont know what your opinion on MW was but i think the general consensus was that he always seemed like he didst have a plan b. So i don't think we should shoot the interim manager for trying something different.

To be honest with the level of player we have.... more or less regardless of the style of play we should have the general ability to beat Dundee.

  20. What concerns me now is the same that concerned me with MW.... the complete inability to create clear chances.

I watched the sheep game before our game and if you asked someone who knew nothing about Scottish football which team out of the 4 that played yesterday had a budget at least double the others i can guarantee you they wouldn't pick us! Now this isnt a problem in a one off game but this has been the case time and time again all season.

We have scored 16 less goals than Aberdeen, 13 less than Hearts! and a ridiculous 34 less than Celtic!

  21. Posted this elsewhere but it's probably better here:

What about the Huddersfield manager? David Wagner has brought a modern, German pressing game to Huddersfield and has them sitting 3rd or 4th in the Championship. Huddersfield was his first real job but he learned his trade at Borussia Dortmund II. Nagelsmann at Hoffenheim brought fresh ideas, despite only being in his 20's and is now considered one of the best young coaches in the game. We need to show a bit of faith in a younger manager with modern ideas -- it is the only way we can move into the modern football age.

    I 100% agree with you.

However we had that with MW and look how that turned out with a lot of fans turning against him even before last weeks debacle.

Also To be brutally honest any up and coming manager would be mental to take the post. Expectations are very very high from day one and you are operating on half the budget of your only competition who have what 4/5 years head start on you. Who in there right mind would take it on when just looking at the bare facts.
