  1. Loan deals are counter productive long term we will just have more positions to fill next summer ruining cohesion. If you want an example look at celtcs defence

I'd take your point if we had 5 or 6 loan players but given it's only 2 (or 3 if this one goes ahead) and possibly only 1 will be a regular first pick I see no harm in it.

Hopefully after October we'll have new funding and can approach the next 2 transfer windows by addressing the short term signings we have.

  2. Also sends a very distinctive message to Hibs too - sell me to Rangers or I will wait out my contract and go for free (assuming we can believe that it is "Rangers and nobody else"). In fairness, if Hibs let Allan go then they effectively admit they wont make the automatic promotion spot, which would send out a very poor signal to their fans. They could lose more money by selling him to us than holding onto him and seeing him sign a pre-contract in December.

If Hibs let him go and by that I mean sell to Rangers and if they opened negotiations I'm sure a fee in the £400k region would be agreed between both parties.

Hibs could then use the money to add 2 or maybe 3 players which would IMO give them a better chance of improving their side rather than relying on one unsettled individual.

  3. From the Scotsman Toumani Diagouraga is linked:

RANGERS have been linked with a move for Brentford midfielder Toumani Diagouraga, according to reports.

However, the Gers will face competition from the likes of Leeds, Huddersfield and Fulham in a bid to tempt the French midfielder north of the Border.

Diagouraga, who began his career with Watford, enjoying spells with Swindon, Rotherham, Hereford, Peterborough, Portsmouth and Brentford played a key role in the Bees reaching the Championship play-off semi-finals.

The defensive midfielder is much admired by Leeds boss Uwe Rosler, while Huddersfield are also in the market for a defensive midfielder.

It is believed that Brentford are reluctant to lose Diagouraga, however, and the Bees are expected to rebuff any offers for the highly-rated 28-year-old.

New Ibrox boss Mark Warburton has been linked with current Bees midfielder Jonathan Douglas, while recent signing Rob Kiernan had a spell with Brentford in the 2012/13 season.

28 year old defensive midfielder - contracted at Brentford until June 2017 - played 43 games for Brentford last season.

  4. Two top additions. The starting 11 is starting to take shape. Wouldn't be surprised if we pick up a few more before Saturday. Holt and Eustace seem likely, maybe Allan too. Still could do with another striker in my eyes.

Seeen Zeefuik has been told he free to leave Groningen.

GÉNERO Zeefuik could be on his way back to Heart of Midlothian after the striker was told by his Dutch club Groningen that he is no longer in their plans and can leave now.

That could open the door for Hearts, where Zeefuik had a profitable four-month loan last season, and Groningen’s managing director, Hans Nijland, has revealed that Zeefuik is having discussions with a “foreign club”.

Nijland confirmed on his own Twitter account that “Genero Zeefuik has permission to talk to a foreign club and that he has been allowed to miss Monday’s training.”

Manager Robbie Neilson was eager to keep the 25-year-old at Tynecastle after he netted 12 goals in 15 games to help Hearts back into the Scottish Premiership but Groningen’s demand of a £300,000 fee seemed to kill off any hope of a deal.

However, sources in Holland claim that Groningen have dropped that idea and simply want to get Zeefuik off the wage bill because the striker they from bought from PSV Eindhoven in 2012 signed a five-year contract.

Zeefuik became a cult hero with the Hearts support, especially after signing off with a late double in the final match of the season to earn a 2-2 draw with Rangers at Tynecastle.

Having taken a pay cut in order to join Hearts in the first place, he returned to Groningen intent on pleading to be allowed to rejoin the Gorgie club.

“Maybe I can come here to Hearts or go to another club. I don’t know,” Zeefuik said then. “I don’t think Groningen want me. I did a good job here so maybe it’s possible I can play here next season.”

Neilson admitted last April that Zeefuik – who also grabbed a hat-trick in just three minutes in the 10-0 rout of Cowdenbeath – had made a huge impact.

“Género is a player that we’d like to keep, but it has to come within our budget,” Neilson said at the time.

“That’s just being prudent. Género has had a great season but we’re only a year on from administration and the doors nearly being shut, so we still have to live within our means. The ball is in Género’s court and Groningen’s.”

  6. The Sun saying we are 'opening talks' with Hibs for Scott Allan.

They also say Warburton took in the Hibs v Dunfermline pre season match at the weekend in which Allan scored. Perhaps it was the first time Warburton seen Allan play.

I wonder if there is any substance to the story or is it just mischief making by The Sun ahead of Saturdays game.

  7. The very obvious question is to ask who gave the order for the players to be released, a football person or someone else, can't really see how it could be a football person, unless of course our present manager is also our new manager.

Their contracts had expired and they are free to leave and find employment elsewhere.

  8. Today I was told that players had told Kenny the simply didn't care if we won and they didn't want to train.

Mccoll may have a very limited number of actually motivated players.

If there is a shred of truth in that then why did Kenny continue to pick them - that would be grounds for dismissal for the players and management.

  9. RIFC has a month to find a new NOMAD under Stock Exchange rules.

If it fails to do so, it would be withdrawn from the AIM market.

King intended to remove WH Ireland anyway and appoint a new NOMAD so I guess nothing has changed really. WH Ireland said they'd resign if King won the vote - one could assume Capita have informed the NOMAD King has won.

  10. King has never gone away and several of us have mentioned that. It is getting to the point where the current Board and hangers on know their time is up and they have nowhere to go. They have no money and they can't raise any money. The game is a bogey and the negotioations wiull all be about the current lot getting out with minimal fuss and accusation and King settling on a price with them. I believe we are hurtling towards and end game. If pushed, I'd say that by late Sept early October, Rangers will be in new hands.

I'd love to share your optimism but with every passing day it appears King will only ride to the rescue if we enter Admin II at which point other interested parties will be free take more control.

  11. I was speaking to Kenny Millers' auld man yesterday very briefly, and he said Kenny was offered a two year contract with Rangers,he didn't say how much cash was offered but did frown saying it wasn't a great offer!,although he did give the impression Kenny wants to come back to Rangers,he also said that he has offers down south but wants to stay in Scotland, I never asked anymore.

At 34 years old surely Kenny Miller isn't expecting a big contract offer. A 2 year contract would take him to 36 and assuming we get propmoted this season there aren't many 36 year old strikers in the top division.

He must be only too aware of our financial position so if he wants to return to Scotland and Rangers he has to be reasonable.

  12. I'm too young to remember Sandy as a player but I worked alongside Sandy for a few years and can honestly say in that time I have never met such an upbeat, postitive, well mannered, inspirational character. He was absolutely first class with me any time I approached him years ago and any time since.

    Stevie Smith tweeted this:

Strong, proud, loyal and dignified. He is everything a Rangers should be. Rest in peace Sandy Jardine.

    Never a truer word spoken!

  13. What would Admin II entail?

We'd suffer a 25 point deduction and no doubt further financial penalties from the authorities.

But, who would benefit from it? Would the Easdale's and Laxey walk away with The Albion and Edmiston House with every other share being declared worthless?

I assume we'd then again be vulnerable to a takeover by more unknown parties. Would we exit Admin with the same faceless owners but with all commercial and business contract terminated. High earners offloaded? Or would that allow Dave King to step in and buy lock stock at a reduced price from the administrator?
