Who does Jack replace in Villas midfield? As for right back, they spent £24M on the excellent Matty Cash.

Tell truth, I have no idea who plays for villa , I only watch rangers,  so I bow to your superior knowledge,  I only highlighted those 2 as potential targets as it's well known how highly he rates Jack and Paterson has so much potential.

I also assume that it wouldn't only be first team regulars that villa might sign, no places in the squad available for their positions, again I've absolutely no idea.

Kamara and Kent only players I can see SG comimg back for. He might take Goldson as backup but he's shopping in a different supermarket now.

I think he'll be keeping an eye on Jack's form as he returns to match fitness and I'd be most surprised if they don't try and get Paterson on the cheap.

Gerrard has left us sneakily, and in the shit, and for that he deserves as much opprobrium as we can throw at him.

Whatever happens, if there is a benefit, it will be nothing to do with Gerrard; it would be Old Dame Fortune playing us right, as much as anything else.

If people, later in the hypothetical season would call for his dismissal, then the Club would have to make a decision, in its own interests, and would be able to control, substantially, any process of removal and replacement.

That is not the case when, as now, the manager and all his staff up sticks and move, rather suddenly. Note too, that the urgency required, given that there is no one left to run the team, puts the Club in a rather weak negotiating position. It's at least arguable that it is not able to control the process as it would wish.

It has nothing to do with 'loyalty', and I don't care about Gerrard's reasons, it is about the potential impact the sudden departures will have on the  squad, and on the rest of this rather important season.

I see no reason to wish him well, rather the opposite.

Very well put sir, I'm sure many will see things a bit more clearly once the Stockholm syndrome wears off.

  4. Great article,  but writing letters of complaint is not the most effective way to fight back. The only way to hurt them is to stop buying their rags, stop visiting their sites, clicking or sharing links and don't pay their licence fee.

As the writer identifies, we have the numbers. Unfortunately still too many of us continue to fund the problem whilst simultaneously whining about the product.

My paternal Grandfather was born in 1892, he was attending Ibrox by 1899. He passed in 1979 and left me a collection of Wee Blue Books. Often in the mid 60s-mid 70s, I would sit with him in Section G of the old Main Stand. It was the bunnet and raincoat brigade. Half time conversations featured Neilly Gibson, the consensus being he was the best ever to grace the hallowed turf. Grandpa was an absolute adherent.

My old man had never seen Gibson play, he could not see past Baxter. Similarly Grandpa loved Meiklejohn or, 'the Meek' as he called him; Dad preferred gazelle-like Ronnie McKinnon or Willie Woodburn. I loved Dave Smith. I think we forget quite quickly how bad the Ibrox pitch became every season by mid-November? The constant pitch improvement began during the reign of Souness. Different times and circumstances produce different favourite players.

I have the great mans autograph

Just a pity he wasn’t available for selection. Brilliant winger. Springbok-fast, good ball skills (football was only one of his many sports) great crosser and penalty taker supreme. A hard act to follow but Davy Wilson managed it.

And a thoroughly nice bloke as well.

Read a lot about Johnny Hubbard - South African, I think - and I feel as though as I had seen him. Likewise Don Kichenbrand, though I think both were living still when I was growing up.

(You can tell it's international break, can't you?)

Johnny Hubbard was a regular at Ibrox right up to his passing in 2018

Right, well as fun and enlightening as this thread has been I think I'm going to leave you to it, there's really not much more to say.

You will require a Covid passport for this Sunday's match, I'm not sure of that's Bill Gates, a secret cabal of Jews or Nicola Sturgeon's doing. It is kinda funny now though.  - https://www.rangers.co.uk/Article/supporter-update-29-09-21/3eSwxvlwMD20cDeixDQZoU

AHEAD of Sunday’s Scottish Premiership match against Hibernian, we once again highlight the introduction of vaccine certificate checks across Scotland.

Sunday’s game is a “test event” and thus, we are required by law, to carry out the same procedures as when the “grace period” is over.

For the avoidance of doubt, following legislation introduced by the Scottish Government, everyone attending matches at Ibrox Stadium must be fully vaccinated and everyone must bring proof of this status with you to the match, unless exempt.

After further engagement with the Scottish government, we can confirm that although we are being encouraged to use this game as a “test event”, no supporter will be refused entry.

    "Kinda Funny now though"

Just to be clear, are you claiming being double vaccinated doesn't reduce a person's chances of contracting Covid?

Yes, it just significantly reduce the chances of becoming seriously ill.

    The Guardian recently

Fully vaccinated adults can harbour virus levels as high as unvaccinated people if infected with the Delta variant, according to a sweeping analysis of UK data, which supports the idea that hitting the threshold for herd immunity is unlikely.

There is abundant evidence that Covid vaccines in the UK continue to offer significant protection against hospitalisations and death. But this new analysis shows that although being fully vaccinated means the risk of getting infected is lower, once infected by Delta a person can carry similar virus levels as unvaccinated people.

The implications of this on transmission remain unclear, the researchers have cautioned. “We don’t yet know how much transmission can happen from people who get Covid-19 after being vaccinated – for example, they may have high levels of virus for shorter periods of time,” said Sarah Walker, a professor of medical statistics and epidemiology at the University of Oxford.

“But the fact that they can have high levels of virus suggests that people who aren’t yet vaccinated may not be as protected from the Delta variant as we hoped.”

This does not appear to be rare to me.

nope not rare at all, played golf with 4 different guys recently, all retired, all decent guys and capable of reasonable thinking.

All four thought that they would be a lot safer in the company of vaccinated people than non vaccinated, when pressed they were certain that getting double stabbed significantly reduced or eliminated the risks of both contracting and spreading the virus.

Sharing my medical details plus name, address and date of birth with a complete stranger. Wonder if stewards will have to sign a DPA assuring that our details will be safely stored and not shared

Plus the stewards do not have to be double vaccinated,  they are exempt.

Not a chance will I be sharing my medical info with some random,  if there was a valid benefit I would but nobody is any safer because of this orwellian shite, despite the success of project fear and the gullible believing that the double jagged can't carry or transmit the virus, the fact is, we are being used as a political lever to increase the vaccinated numbers.

That and a useful exercise in mass control.

The snatzis, rangers and anyone else can poke this nonsense up their shitters.

From what I can see, the Castore deal was a brilliant decision by Rangers' commercial team.

In respect if kit sales that would appear to be the case, however there's much more than strips to be considered when evaluating a retail deal.

Visit the club shop and you will see a large range of Rangers/Castore technical sports apparel and a few products with just the castore branding.

All high priced and hopefully producing a very good margin for both parties.

But where's all the other stuff? The sundry items, fancy goods, jewelry, knitwear,  casual clothing and niknacks?

You can still buy all these things, in the gers store online, operated by Elite our former partner,  but whats the current relationship?

I had a look in the official city centre shop last weekend and tbh there was nothing on the shelves at all for somebody my age and bmi.

    Income lost.

Not everyone can afford £50 for a polo or £30 for a tee. The club told us there would be a variety of ranges to suit all budgets and this simply hasn't happened.

If Castore can only provide high end, high price, high margin sports kit, then the club should negotiate a separate contract with a provider that can fill the glaring gaps in our retail potential.

It's certainly a huge mess and off-putting for any fan interested in acquiring shares through Club1872.

F, agree with your post , however as far as I view the collectives model, it is not possible for anyone to aquire shares through C1872.

As I'm sure you are well aware individuals can contribute to a pot but they can never own any equity, and that for me was the flaw that doomed this enterprise from the outset.

Was looking at the new shirt yesterday the grandchildren had them on and I would say it's not gold more of a mustard colour or maybe my eyesight is going as well now ?

    Its gold, very traditional

No Rangers shirt should ever have the colour gold anywhere near it.  The collar is nice though.

Another nod to heritage, representing the gold on royal blue on the main stand gable crests.

  16. Lots of debate as per usual,  I too have reservations in respect of the crest colour and deviation from traditional in that respect.

Just wondering though, how many of those who are critical have any intention to purchase one?

I'm too old and grotesque to wear a top but have still bought the 55 and 150 versions. We were all appalled at previous retail deals, we now have a beneficial contract least we can do is support it.

I should have stated it was an away game.

It was August'62 at Hampden for a League Cup sectional game. We won 2-5.

I have found out Duns FC played mostly in the East of Scotland League. Currently, they are in the B League of the Borders Amateur League. Their nickname is, 'the Dingers'.
