  1. His club at the time have very close links with Ceptic....his comments mean nothing.

Precisely, more than likely he would have been told to say that for purposes of raising the profile of a partner club(Celtic) in the country(Mexico)

  2. Ally McCoist has defended himself over his failure to vote in an important resolution at last year's Rangers agm.

McCoist, who has a 1.25 per cent shareholding in the club, said: "I was one of the 25 per cent who never voted as I was out of the country and a lot more high-profile people at Rangers, people who are close to my heart, also never voted.

"I remain a supporter of the club and the board and I just hope the board can find the investment to help the next manager."

For somebody who earned so much money while managing us, also unemployed at the time, it seems slight ridiculous that he couldn't either postpone his trip abroad, or if not that, at the very least, make a quick trip back to place his vote. I find it hard to understand if he loves Rangers as much as he professes, why he couldn't make that little effort.....

  3. A coach and a manager both require differing disciplines in their respective positions and to combine the two an extra special person with the correct mentality.

To be fair to Murty he has admitted to his shortcomings and if the Board want to be seen as responsible employers should be sorting this out asap and allow him to get back to his normal duty.

What worries me, and why i do really feel for Murty, is that this whole experience could have a whole host of other knock effects, such as...

    - Put him off wanting to be a manager in the future (you never know, he could develop a decent ability for it)

    - Lose him respect from younger players who look at the situation and think "He's not winning games, even with the senior players"

    - Lose him respect from senior players

Thats just off the top of my head at the moment, i'm sure people could think of other issues

  4. what was the score at Inter ? What happened getting him sacked after 3 months ?

Here's a couple of lines from an interview he did...

Frank de Boer reveals the chaos at Inter with Mauro Icardi and Marcelo Brozovic got too much for him. “We had three months, but honestly it felt like a year.”

The former Ajax Coach was drafted in to replace Roberto Mancini just two weeks before the Serie A season kicked off and was fired 85 days later.

“Leaving Ajax after 25 years as player, coach and manager was hard, but sometimes you are saying the same things, you need a new challenge, like Pep Guardiola,” De Boer told the Daily Mail.

“But at Inter I had to deal with so many things away from football, you lose energy.

“Every time you thought, ‘Finally, a good result, everything has calmed down,’ then comes Mauro Icardi's book or Marcelo Brozovic is in the discotheque and you have to punish him.

“We only had three months but honestly, it felt like a year.”

Inter were fined on Wednesday for Icardi’s autobiography, as it included threats to bring criminals over from Argentina to attack ultras.

Brozovic was dropped for a couple of weeks, but the club never revealed why De Boer had taken disciplinary action – evidently the Croatia international had been out partying into the early hours.

“Attractive football and dominating in the opposition half, winning the ball back as quickly as possible. This is what I stand for,” continued De Boer.

“Discipline is everything, but it's about knowing when. One player at Ajax, Mounir El Hamdaoui, he stayed in the toilet for 10 minutes at half-time then gave me the big mouth. You think, 'If I don't do something here, they're going to play with my balls'.

“That was it, 'Okay, you're off'. You either win the group or lose it. They need to respect you.”

  5. Next Rangers manager: Frank de Boer in London as club continue talks over new structure

FRANK DE BOER is in London as Rangers continue talks with potential management candidates.

The Glasgow giants are looking for a new boss following the departure of Mark Warburton and his team of David Weir and Frank McParland.

The Rangers board have begun interviewing candidates in London for both the manager and director of football roles.

De Boer is on the shortlist and admits he’s ready to return to the UK to work.

The legendary Holland defender was sacked by Inter Milan earlier this season after just three months in charge.

And De Boer was in London this week for an interview with the Daily Mail and when asked if he could return to Rangers by a fan passing by he said: “I would love to manage here, but the project has to be right.

“I told Liverpool I was honoured but I was only one year in at Ajax, it was too soon. I needed to achieve more, and I did.”

De Boer spent six months at Rangers as a player at the back-end of his career and has been backed for the manager’s job by former team-mate Artur Numan.

The former Rangers and Holland left-back insists De Boer would be a catch for the Ibrox side.

“If you can get Frank you get someone with a lot of experience at the highest level as a player and a coach,” Numan told the Sun.

“But he is a very sought-after coach and I know he will have a lot of offers to choose from.

“He had incredible success at Ajax, playing some terrific football, and is one of the most exciting young coaches around at the moment.

“I’m sure he will be successful again, whether it’s with Rangers or another club.

“Frank has made it clear he will wait until the end of the season before making a decision, so if Rangers want to sign him they will have to wait until June.”

Lifted from the Express website, but also saw similar on twitter from other sources.

I am sure its no co-incidence, as he said, he'd always listen but, even though he's there, I still think he'd be a long shot

  6. Norwich City boss Alex Neil says there is no truth in reports linking his assistant manager, Alan Irvine, with the Rangers job.

Irvine, who has experience of management with Preston, Sheffield Wednesday and West Brom, has been with Norwich since the summer.

The 58-year-old has been working as Neil's No.2, but he has now been linked with the vacant manager's position at Rangers.

The Scottish side are on the hunt for a new boss after Mark Warburton left the club earlier in February, but Neil is adamant Irvine won't be heading north of the border.

"There's nothing in it," said Neil. "We were talking and laughing about it yesterday.

"Somebody has probably just put a bet on him getting the job and the odds have changed."

    Thank fuck!

    Well, thats a relief

  7. A 3-5-2 formation is what I have thought would be good for us with our players.. It would be a 3-5-2 in possession, switching to a 5-3-2 when we lose the ball.. I agree with putting Halliday in the LWB role as its more familiar to him and will take a little bit of pressure off him and maybe allow him to recapture some kind of form.. The only change i would make is to remove Holt, I think he would be best coming on as a sub in the McKay position, although, we're not exactly blessed with options, I would go for Toral.... The advantage of having 3 at the back is it allows one centre back to step up and break up play when required...

  8. Well they better make the same statement to the fans then , and make clear it's going to be a long long road back , some of our fans are going nuts about this year , the next few aren't going to be much better unless serious money can be found from somewhere .

I agree, I think a lot of pressure (obviously not all) can be relieved on all sides if there is just better communication.

  9. New (small) statement imminent apparently.

Would this be the statement to which you are referring?

Rangers chairman Dave King tells me Board may consider interim solution following Mark Warburton departure.

  10. You better hope the new manager buys into the academy project then , otherwise we are as well shutting it down , some one like Walter never trusted kids , I fact if you look back if it wasn't for advocatt Ferguson might never have made it with us , that I agree is a huge guess on my part .

I hope the board get a director of football sorted first , we need especially at this point in time a long term strategy not a short term one to get 2nd place , because as for Europe there is next to no difference between 2 nd and 4 th in reality .

I think (I hope) that one of the things made very clear to any new manager, will be that there are not large sums of money to be spent and they will have to understand that a reliance, and therefore improvement on the academy is one of the priorities....

  11. The problem with player resale value is not necessarily one that we can solve on our own... The Scottish leagues are seen as an area that can be taken advantage of, where gems can be searched for with not much risk because the price is cheap.. The reason we will do well to get a get a good re-sale on somebody like Dodoo is because, in the opinion of potential suitors, he is playing in a sub standard league, in a team that is under performing and he can't even get into the first 11.. The reason he was worth 8-9 million IMO is because, at the time, he was playing for the Premiership champions, had he been playing for an English League 1 team, even if he had the same potential, I think he would more likely be quoted as a million pound player.

I think a lot of player value comes from the club they play for rather than their actual ability/potential, which leads to the point about Celtic. They can sell players at a higher value because they are playing well and more importantly, they are playing in the champions league, lets be honest if there was no champions league, do you think anybody would be quoting Dembele for £40million, he'd be quoted at £10million, at a push..

  12. Why should Tavernier get abuse if all he is doing is following his manager's instructions?

I agree to an extent as, imo, there have been a few ocassions where he has just switched off completely and been caught ball watching. If you watch him in the box whenever the opposition team is on the attack on the opposite flank, he seems to be drawn to the penalty spot, rather than tracking his man. At the same time though, if there is so much post-match analysis being done, I would have thought this would have been picked up, pointed out and him trained on his defensive positioning.

  13. I saw this on a comment section, which, although isn't a great source of information, sounds like its probably more realistic.....

"Truth is Kiernan was verbally abused by one idiot outside the Players Lounge. One of Kiernan's company reacted and a brief, noisy argument took place. Heat of the moment stuff and the balloon who had a go at big Rob was removed from the situation by his own mates. No stewards whatsoever were involved."

I never understand when players are berated in this manner off the pitch, its as though the abuser thinks that players go out each week with the mindset "you know what will be fun this week, i'll play sh*t to p*ss everybody off and it will be funny"

  14. Possibly but the manager himself has said he'll only sign players if he thinks they can improve the squad and that the January window isn't always the best place to do that.

    I agree.

I think another reason could be that with the possible lure of European football next season, why pay over inflated prices in January when in the summer, if we make it into Europe, we'll have a bigger choice of possible signings which represent better value...

  15. Mistakes happen but some refs make to many to often , stand him down for a month .

There should be some form of system of points, like speeding, so when a referee gets a certain amount of points, he's 'given a rest' for a month say. If he then gets that number of points again within a certain period of time, he then gets moved down a division for a period of time etc. The number of points given should be determined by the mistake in question.

May sound silly, but could work...
