Obviously will be dependent on his attitude when questioned about reason for delay with returning back, being dropped in the first instant and then afterwards at training etc....stick him on the bench at best.

Without knowing the answer to these questions, and more, it's difficult to answer.   A spell on the bench did work before with Morelos.

We need an enforcer we get pushed out of to many games Naismith dominated in the middle and was out jumping or two centre halves at set pieces

It wasn't the centre halves who were marking him.

Trying to understand the coefficient system and struggling somewhat!

At present Scotland have 27,875 points and are 14th.  We need to be in the top 15 for the second CL place.  That's the easy bit.

According to Wikipedia, points are awarded for various things, including 10,000 points for playing a game.  Something doesn't add up here!

In short, I think the situation is that if we outperform Copenhagen, or at least equal the performance of either Olympiakos or Basel, Scotland gain a second entry to the CL next season.

Olympiakos play Wolves and Basel play either Salzburg or Frankfurt.  I'm not sure I see both of those sides qualifying through those games so we have a very good chance.

Of course, had Celtic done the business against Copenhagen, it would already be decided...

It's 27.875 points.  That's made up of the last five years scores.  The good thing for Scotland is we have a very low score of 3 from 2015/16 dropping off next which is lower than every country around us.

As I understand it you get 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw (halved in the qualifiers).  There's also a bonus point for progressing to the next round.  The total is then divided by the number of clubs (in Scotland's case that's 4).   So for this round we got 5 points and Celtic scored 1, which means the Scottish score rose by 1.5 points (6/4).

Not quite, if Olympiakos get to the semis and Basel the final, we'd only then get the one spot.

All we need to do is win the next game and it takes everything else out the equation apparantly with the top 15 teams getting qualification for the CL.  (info taken from dr but won't paste link here)

I thought we'd already clinched that second spot.  Still; those scenarios are long shots.

Never played Benfica, which is strange. It's worth noting that Benfica would obviously be a notable step up in quality from Braga and Sporting (albeit Braga's form is better). Having said that, Porto have just closed the gap in the league to 1 point.

I think Benfica were the first 'Latin' team we ever played.  Beat them 3-0 in Lisbon.  I've lost access to my Rangers database so can't confirm the date.

Thanks for confirming; didn't think we'd ever played them in European competition.

Yes I watch them on sky and BT  and I believe they are there for the taking

I never watch them unless they are playing Rangers so I don't really know much about them but their results don't indicate any weakness.  Forms a strange thing though and there's still time for a swing in fortunes.

On Morelos, I have been eating humble pie for the first half of the season because his goalscoring has far exceeded my expectations. I have often pointed out that he looks very raw at times and technically poor. But he was outstanding in Europe and for most of the first half of the season.

His form is poor but hopefully he'll get it back but I always say the most important attribute of any player is what's between his ears.   He seems to learn nothing.

  8. Gerard had made some great substitutions this week, turning around the Braga game as well as this one but then decides to bring on Steve Davis to 'secure the game'.   I had a bad feeling as soon as he did that and frankly we deserve fuck all for such negativity.  The best way to defend a lead is to increase it; we were far superior than the opposition and should have been looking to bury them.
