There is an element of truth in the Danny Shittu story it turns out. Clubs have been in contact with Rangers, looking at tempting Bougherra away from Ibrox. There are some fears that when Bougherra returns to Scotland, he might ask for a transfer. Shittu is backup in case this happens.

He's just been spotted in a fine eatery in Barcelona with his pal Thierry Henry. For those who don't know who Thierry Henry is, he's a half decent striker/winger that would be a useful addition to the squad and has a little European experience as well. He's also played the occasional game for France.

The Petrov link puzzles me somewhat unfortunately.

 

If such a top quality player were available, I'd have thought higher level teams than ours would be ahead of us in the queue for his services.

True. At 31 years young and out of contract in the summer I would have expected a few other interested parties and not just on these shores.
